Off to the Midlands later for the extended holiday period, back New Year.

Managed to stay above freezing last night for the first time in over a week. Still have a patchy slushy thin covering of snow and ice, and reckon vestiges will still be on the lawn for the Big Day too (won't be here to see it though)!

Rain (possible with sleet) showers during the night, some heavy ones.

Rather cloudy with sunny intervals this morning and dry, thawing slowly, as its the mildest day for a week or so.

Min: +0.2c yesterday evening.

Max so far today: 3.8c.

Rain yesterday: 7.2mm

Rain since 0900: Nil.

Hail is still lying in patches after yesterday evening storms which deposited 2.5 cm of level hail here. Some of the hailstones were 7mm diameter. Three separate thunderstorms ocurred during the evening giving around 20mm equivalent rainfall.

Thick fog persists but above 320m the sky is visible above it; the temperature varies between 0.0c and 0.4c according to the Davis on the house roof.

Current temp 4.9c after a maximum of 5.2c. Lots of low mist coming of the ice/slush covered ground/fields and side roads ect.

With Dew Points rising fairly rapidly across the south all this moisture is causing some problems with car breaks. A word of caution if you're car is up a hill, two have rollen down by themselves due to the breaks softening up.

Currently -4 in Glasgow, was -8 at Lunchtime and I doubt it will get any less cold given that it'll be getting dark in half an hour.

Still several inches of snow on the ground and it's not going anywhere (I hope). Talk of more snow tomorrow and Boxing day. Love it! :drinks:

An overcast day with thick fog, becoming very dense during the last few hours. A milder day than recent ones but still rather cold and only a very slow thaw. The maximum temperature was just 1.8C after a min last night of 0.4C.

Currently 0.6C and falling slowly. Im hopeful that we'll have quite a bit of snow left for tomorrow, even if its technically not a white christmas.
