is this front expected to turn/move south east now that it's stalled?

It's still moving north I'm afraid - It may "fill" or showers will come up from the south - will be more of rain tomorrow then the NE winds bite in thursday to change everything to snow - light though - then will be dry but bitingly cold over new year - icy I expect - seems like there is appearing another southern based low proged for Sunday into Monday - but a long way off in weather terms - but could deliver yet more snow - this cold spell could well last through to the 10th of Jan - so further chances of the white stuff occurin!

Heavy snow has now stopped, there is a nice covering here a few inches thick, hopefully some more to come over night.

Nice looking at those webcams, quite a few lucky people.

Upper air temps from the NAE @ 0h:

http://expert.weathe...122912_2912.gif

You can see these have been lower in East and Mid Wales, if that low had been further South then snow would have been more widespread across S Wales.

More Snow to come for Mid Wales and some for North Wales i think as that front slowly pushes Northwards.

The snow is now starting to properly settle, temperature must have dropped, but the snow is a lighter now. I suppose if it keeps snowing moderately through the night and temp keeps dropping we could end up with a covering...

Getting back into the village wasn't nice either after id pushed the missus car up a hill and then waited for a gritter to get mine out . Good few inches here an more to come I think

Must be getting on for 3 inches now, still heavy snow smaller flakes 0.8c

Stalled front over Powys tommorrow could be large snowfall totals.

GFS 6z was a colder run to the 12z so it could turn sleety, thats my only concern by tomorrow morning, but the cold comes back.

Temps don`t look be a problem on GFS as 0c min and 1c max midday so nothing will thaw like that.

Fresh warning on BBC teletext for moderate snow Wednesday & Thursday for South & Mid Wales - where is the precipitation to back that up as I see none?

JB on Accuweather, Laminate floory chap! - cold air not actually here until tomorrow and then it is going to get bitterly cold - he states this winter storm is still in its infancy and will provide what we want (snow lovers that is) - he has been accurate since late October with his forecasting - he has some interesting posts in the free section of his blog fot those who have not read them.

Wind picking up here now - but heavy rain - got to get colder when the cold air pushes south perhaps it will turn to snow - who knows!

I am a little concerned that we might see rain/sleet tomorrow before the front starts to push SE again, I am on the same latitude as you I suspect, what's your altitude?

ps... just noticed your altitude I think, 305m 'about' [sic] sea level? smile.gif
