I've got temp of 1.8 and dewpoint of 0.3 now so it should be more borderline once the heavier stuff comes in, I hope!!!! Still 100% rain at the moment though.

P.S. Are any of the Stokies getting any snow - it's been heavy there for a good while?

rain rain and rain in stoke

We look ok for some of the heavier stuff for a while, only problem is its rain not snow atm. and unless it changes soon it will pass through before it gets a chance to.

It is not gonna pass through it is going to stall. All Models agree with this . Once that heavy stuff get's over us it isn't going anywhere. Infact the 12z has ppn over us until Thursday .

Heavy Snow 1600 Tue 29 0300 Wed 30

Outbreaks of sleet and snow will become heavy at times, particularly over high ground, with accumulations of 5 to 10 cm, perhaps 15 cm on hills. Strong winds will also cause some drifting of the snow.

The public are advised to take extra care and refer to the Highways Agency for further advice regarding traffic disruption on motorways and trunk roads.

Issued at: 1359 Tue 29 Dec

With the advisory out you would be expecting some to have some snow falling, you can see why people might be a little annoyed.

There doesnt seem to be much heavier stuff than what weve already got to come. Granted it may start to stall, you can see the movement of the southern areas of this precip band travelling quicker than the north which has practically stopped altogether. The problem is will it turn to snow or not?? i think its about 0.5c to warm in most places at the min, some1 earlier said temps were dropping about 0.1c every 10-15mins so maybe in an hour we will see more reports of snow

sleet here, and as andy says, that precipitation isnt going anywhere fast. this reminds me of sometime in november 2007, when it rained for a good part of the day, and then later on it changed over to snow, and actually settled to an extent. the latest beeb forecasts have snow for a good part of the day tomorrow across the central midlands. lets keep an eye on conditions over the next few hours

Rain and sleet here for last 45 mins.

Evaporative cooling is what we look for now if the rain stays heavy enough...
