Woke up to a nice dusting this morning. The temps dropped to -2C and its currently 0C.

Anyone seen the Met O warning for Peterborough on Tues!

They are predicting 20cm of snowfall. Considering we're only friday, to be warning about this amount of snow this early is incredible. Infact i've never seen this before!

They did it for the Tuesday night event 5 days out as well.

Thankfully there will be nothing marginal about Tues. The upper temps will be 8C colder!

Don't remind me :)

Anyone reckon those snow showers over the North East will make it down to the East Midlands this evening? Looks unlikely and it's a shame because they are some beasts up there.

I', sure it was for 5-10 cm at lower ground level and 15 at higher ground, no mention of 20cm in any of MO's warnings for last Tuesday.....

Light snow flurries here. Heavy dark clouds over Shropshire and to my North West.

Cheshire gap effect I suspect.

Don't be silly mate , there is no way that under these conditions that tomorrow's trough will be rain. Remember this time it is coming from the North not the South.

I thought that. Then I saw the Accuweather forecast for tomorrow.

"Bit of rain, snow, 1C."

And then Saturday evening:

"A snow shower in the evening, -3C."

Could be worse, but looks like there's a chance those showers might not be wintry tomorrow, in the daytime at least.

Wouldn't be surprised if we had a few flakes from the remnants of the showers, I am just hoping the cloud cover will keep the temps below freezing to help record the first ice day of the winter here.

Happy New Year all with the hope that we don`t have to wait too long for some Midlands snowcover.

Looking a the meteox radar just now it seems a few snow flurries are moving sw from the NSea.

They tracked across the peak district and into parts of Staffs, hence tthose recent reports from there and Buxton.

I can`t see anything coming from Cheshire gap with a North Easterly flow.

Looks like there is the chance of very light snow tomorrow night. Wont amount to anything though.

I'm addicted to these Scottish cams today. So jealous at the snowfest going on up there. Deep extensive snowcover to be found:

Slochd A9 South in particular is absolutely beautiful.

I can only hope the Midlands will look similar come this time next week!

Good to see the odd shower moving in from, well...somewhere's.

Has gradually clouded over here during the afternoon, with the odd flake floating around in the breeze. No showers, but always a greater chance of a passing shower with cloud cover than with clear skies :aggressive:

Missed an ice day here by a frustratingly small margin, max temp of 0.1c, typical.

Happy New Year. Clouds have returned here and I observed 3 tiny flakes of snow when I stuck my head out of the window. Hopefully they will be joined by several billion further flakes in the weeks ahead.

Met O must have a love affair with Peterboroughlaugh.gif

I'm Hoping for a strong Easterly to come off and push the Met O warning 40 miles to the south west of you.
