34.2 mm in April which is 48% of average and takes the total for the first 4 months to 272.0mm.

This compares to 225.8 mm by the same stage last year.

We're up to 190mm here now, but by this stage in previous years:-

2009 - 356mm

2008 - 506mm

2007 - 380mm

2006 - 243mm

2005 - 426mm

2004 - 320mm

2003 - 227mm

2002 - 448mm

2001 - 351mm

2000 - 437mm

So much drier than any year since 2000, but compared to 2008, 2007, 2005, 2002 and 2000, exceptionally so.

March: 41.1mm

2010 Rainfall Lampeter, Ceredigion, 120m asl

January: 112mm = a little dry

February: 55mm = dry, just over half the average (2009, just 28mm)

March: 107mm = close to average, almost all second half.

April: 44mm = dry

May: 43mm = driest locally since at least 2005, and the new driest month of the year so far

2010 total so far: 362mm

May was the driest since I began recordings in 2003...

Jan = 93mm

Feb = 102.5mm

Mar = 72.5mm

Apr = 44.5mm

May = 31mm

Total = 343.5mm

June has around 12.5mm already lol !!

61.8mm here in June, 76% of average, but over 70% of the total fell on just two days.

350.1 mm so far this year, the driest first 6 months since 1976 but only 2.8 mm less than in 1996.

Most of June's 43.5mm came in 2 bursts in the opening week : 20mm on the 1st and 15mm on the 7th!

Very very dry start to the year, you have to feel we are going to get a deluge soon or later

September onwards would be lovely, though a thunderstorm any time soon would be very welcome.

Rainfall:

Jan: 46.9mm (driest since 2006)

Feb: 49.8mm (driest since 2009)

Mar: 82.7mm (close to average)

Apr: 33.7mm (driest since 2007)

May: 56.5mm (driest since 2004)

Jun: 21.3mm (driest since 1995) (G-Father's Records)

Jan: 101.2mm

Feb: 78.4mm

Mar: 68.4mm

Apr: 30.4mm

May: 20.2mm

Jun: 41.6mm

Jul: 46.8mm

Total: 387.0mm

Pretty dry spring and summer so far.

July comes in as the driest month of the year so far. To be in the eighth month of the year and not breaking the 300mm for the yearly total is unusual for this part of the world.

Last night's LOW gave a highly impressive 47.5mm of rain making it the wettest 24 hour period

in West Wiltshire since 27/28 May 2007!

And in around 8 hours more rain fell than the monthly totals for April, May, June and (almost) July!

Jan = 93mm

Feb = 102.5mm

Mar = 72.5mm

Apr = 44.5mm

May = 31mm

June = 43.5mm

July = 48.5mm

Aug = 87mm so far

Total = 522.5mm
