A dry start to the day with broken stcu and cu but at observation time I could see a large bank of cb to the north and north west and this arrived about half an hour ago bringing moderate-heavy snow.

Temp' at 0900 was -0.4c but it has risen to 0c in the snow, the overnight min' was -2.6c.

We've lost some snow since we had over 7", but around here, it's still pretty much 100% cover. I've had more snow, and I've had lower temperatures on a few occasions, but I've never know such a prolonged spell of lying snow and constantly low temperatures. I suppose, as a kid, it might have happened, but living in East Anglia, I wouldn't have thought so.

Been to team valley this morning, main roads are passable, but there is still alot of snow around
