Taken a few snaps with my mobile phone during the past couple of days. Apologies for the quality. Hopefully give you an impression of the cold here over the past week.

River Clyde in Central Glasgow, Friday 9th January 2010.

There was actually a boat on the river - might just be visible in one of the pics - which was smashing up all the ice. Had I been a bit earlier I might have got a better snap of the ice on the river. Just up stream there was a flock of birds on top of the ice, but it looked too far to capture on my phone.

River Cart, South Glasgow, Sat 10th Jan

Pretty much frozen over, although the water was flowing underneath. Pretty impressive that the snow had settled on top. Not bad going for an inner city river I thought.

It was nearly frozen over just up from there at Greyfriars. I have a pic looking in the other direction from yours where people are walking on the frozen river!! (NOT this year mind!!!)

I took that pic off the Kingsland bridge on Friday morning- yes the area around English/Greyfriars bridges had lots of ice, and the Reabrook was almost totally iced over where it meets the Severn. Have seen a pic of the Severn frozen right across in 63; have heard that ice formed on it in 81/2 as well.

this picture taken this morning is this really portsmouth with snow on the ground for a week with more falling over night this is a incredible winter and its not over yet:
