Nothing here yet, but if it's raining in Preston it's sure to rain here. Yet another marginal screw-up beckons.

Saw some graupel lying on the pavement in Liverpool city centre on the way over here though. Everything is frozen - but will it last?

No precip fallen here as of yet. Hope the rain being reported in Preston does not make its way here!

The showers that are starting to affect our region have a long track over the Irish sea, so rain can be expected for many of us for a time!

Out hope for snow lies with the front coming south during the night, as it will cut off the Irish sea influence.

So don't panic if it rains this evening!

It's absolutely astonishing, if you had told me over 20 years ago that we would be -5C at 8.30am in the morning, have a bitterly cold day then at night it is going to rain - from the North - I would have thought you were mad.

it proves that synoptics that used to the norm over winters past cannot be repeated in modern times, as many have said its like the 80's again,

when im sure there were no warm sectors and snow to sea level

Update - its now snowing. Wet snow but its snowing all the same. Starting to stick on the car roof.

Question if anyone can answer it. Its colder now than it was before Christmas, why is it looking so much more marginal ?

Beautiful day here today, temp in Nantwich not got above -0.5 and at our office out in the sticks at Bridgemere it's been -1.5. Just caught the BBC news, the grit situation is getting a little concerning, and watching the weather reports they're very confident it's going to last for at least another 7-10 days. Watching the graphics with Diane on BBC NW news, we might actually see some snow here tomorrow.

Well that BBC forecast looked pretty good, south pennines 10 to 15cms on top of about 5inches still remaining. Even I might get snowed in tomorrow!!

Well I for one remember many a warm sector, ruining our chances of snow in the good old days!
