We've had absolutely nothing here at all. the ppn hits the hills just past manchester, disappears, then seems to re-appear to our east:unknw::cold:

think someone's planted a wormhole over us! :cold:

gonna go to bed myself, I'm up with the missus at 5:30 - hopefully something will have changed!

Radar looks good for a moderate spell of snow with temperatures and dew points below 0C, going to go to bed soon, and it looks to be arriving here about 05:00, though GFS18z has the band stalling here, BBC go for it stalling over Linconshire, so not too sure even now but looks good for travel chaos.

Met Office warning issued.

Outbreaks of snow will spread southwards today and are likely to give accumulations of 3 to 6 cm, locally 8 to 10 cm in more eastern counties. This will lead to icy patches on untreated surfaces.

The public are advised to take extra care and refer to the Highways Agency for further advice on traffic disruption on motorways and trunk roads.

Issued at: 0417 Tue 5 Jan

Possibly they are expecting some developments on the Eastern Side?

We could do quite well a bit later mate. That band around leeds is moving SSE, and we could catch it if it keeps it's current track.

Yes, that one's moving ESE & another around the Scarboro area is moving Southerly according to the 850 upper winds, collision course for the two somewhere slightly north of us, looks very good should the precip intensity keep up on both sides.

That band of heavy snow around oldham is moving east,so i hope we don't get stuck in a gap between the two bands
