Looks like today could be dry for me :)

We have convective snow going on in the irish sea which will track this way..infact pretty much the rest of today you can expect to see snow off and on...nd its just intensifying all the time out there.

Liverpool airport calling for snow showers for today..but looking at the snow out there which was a mere blob about an hour ago..to what it is now...the energy from the irish sea is doing is thang and it should intensify quite a bit more during the day imo...this is the only reason we like it.

If it's blowing in off the Irish sea, then it could contain hail.

Also wont a westerly wind melt our snow?

what are peoples temps like is the flow cold i cant see much rainfall anywhere on the radar?

Very light snow here in Liverpool, with approx 1-2cms overnight. Haven't give up hope though, may get a further couple of cms next few hours. Got work at 1pm. Bloody missus is a school teacher, a non working one today as well! Hope she doesn't think of disturbing my cricket/NW watching!whistling.gif

IS THE MILD sector still around or has it moved off yet guys?

:)

I think it's gone now, the radar snows show right back to the coasts virtually.

I'm expecting another period of snow soon, streamer setup again.

I have a temp of 1.3c and it is still snowing - had rain lastnight when it was snowing everywhere else.

About 3" this morning.

With a bit of luck any westerly winds today will be being fed from the colder air pool to our north which should help to maintain the possibility of snow and keep the lying snow in tact

Nope not from this setup it wont. We are under a very cold air mass which is expected to last at 48 hours. We just have to much snow cover, everything hitting the coasts is now snow

Interesting drive to work today. Left 3 inches of snow behind in Longridge and continous fairly heavy snow, in the space of about 5 miles this had turned to a cm or 2 of slush and light sleet at Broughton. This diminished to pratically nothing on the way to Kirkham, at the Kirkham junction of the M55 it started to snow, this turned to a full on blizzard by the time I had got to Blackpool and it is still spannering it down here with quite big flakes. Just shows what vagaries occur even over a very small area.
