Kold i'm starting to wonder if the low pressure center is actually developing over wales , if you look at the wind direction there is a circulation there. Here though west . south westerlies

Yep there has been a low there nowe for a good few hours however this is slowly decaying, as I said before lowest pressures now actually sinking south from the West Midlands, just waiting for the first easterly wind to show sign of a closing circulation. The low over NW/W Wales should by elongating and decaying.

Where is all this heavy snow for tonight coming from ?

If it is that band over Manchester and Yorkshire coming south it seems on the radars to be moving west not south

Lol well i did try to send a message earlier but the forum had another little overload/crash! we had a very light snow flurry but gone now. looks like nothing else is about radar wise for a few hours now, fingers and all else crossed!

Thanks Jason. This thread moves so quickly I almost missed your reply!

I think we can take that with a pinch of salt (if there's any left). They said that last week for this coming week.

Don't see why, as we speak, most of the country is getting battered, had 4 hours of continuous light snow here this morning (Norwich).

Looking at the Meteox satellite it looks to me like the first band of snow is going to pass through mainly south of London and counties south of London. The second band appears to be narrowing and splitting as is progresses. I've looked at the 3hr loop and the projected next 3hr loop.

Is there a chance of this not occuring?

Anyone noticed those beefy showers in the channel? :bomb:

BTW the circulation over Wales is a mid level circulation not a surface feature, in other words the surface pressures do not and obs suggests its not quite at the surface. Lowest pressure close to B'ham at the moment down at 1001mbs.

I suspect the lower pressures over the Midlands is because of the low forming.

LOL

But yeah unless there is some streamer that I haven't seen on the radars coming tonight I just don't see that stuff in the NW and N coming south and that band in Wales/Birmingham looks a bit weak

Hope I am wrong and we are cut off tomorrow but can't help but think the Met are ramping too much

Hertfordshie council have been told to expect 20-25cm of snow later tonight into tomorrow. With further snowfall all day tomorrow.

Just announced on local radio - Mercury.

I thought Herts was to west? Have things changed

Hertfordshire Hedgehogs: Be prepared for the 1 cm of Snow lol, imo if it does the turnaround we could well be in the firing line too early to call yet, keep watching the radar.

Kold.

Thanks for the reply earlier.

One other thing.

Is there a chance the 12z could have things further east?

Forget the models today mate.

It's a nowcast situation. Get on the radar and hope...

Hey, maybe if we all inhale at the same time, we could suck the snow this way? :cold:

The BBC forecast I just saw shows the snow pivoting around us, so accumulations in the Home Counties might be some of the smallest across southern England come Thursday.

BBC1 1.27

Tomorrow looks nice for all Suffolk/Herts southwards

Yeah I'm a little surprised by how far north the Beeb get that zone of snow however if that does happen then London, Essex and Kent and all areas west would see 10-15cms quite probably which would be a rather impressive upgrade from yesterday...though I actually think thats OTT for our region!

Still would be nice wouldn't it!

Looks like North cambs and west norfolk are going to miss out on a lot of the snow from this system.

Oh well . . not for us this time it seems

Guest FireStorm

I Think im thankful not to be having the snow in Gtr Manchester with the ambulance restricting all but the most serious 999 calls. The lesser extent ones are not being responded to.

I'm not even looking in the model discussion thread today OR at the models except maybe a sneaky peak this evening. After the confusion each model run gave I'll stick to raintoday site :)
