Hmm I'm having doubts now.. had a light flurry for 15 mins half an hour ago, nothing since that now.. I live about 7 miles south of Heathrow.. does anyone know when the heavy stuff will reach here? i've been checking the radar and it's basically on me.. oh just as I typed that it's started again!

That band of snow heading north is so tantalisingly close. Will it just about make it here?

Even with the sleety start this snow is having no trouble sticking due to the low ground temps.

Started here about 30 mins ago, according to the radar looks like a precurser with more coming after - we just have a white covering so far, temp about 0C.

According to the forecast the main event is going to start in a couple of hours time.

Yes I thought peter cockroft played it down a bit for London. I am in Ealing and it looks like I might miss a 10/15cm dump by 15 miles

You sure you don't mean west?

Did we not mention that the name St Albans derives from the Anglo Saxon word for 'snow' (ie. to Snorben) as misunderstood during the Roman invasion of the late 2nd century?

Even though some are listening to me because their too bust moaning I shall carry on.

The radar at 19.00 is immense. Now what you have to remember is this band will move N and then pivot anticlockwise. Now the biggest question which nobody can answer is how far N will it move before it pivots W. Now because this is going to pivot I really can't see why this will miss London. Any forecast that suggests this is very suspect.

Also for those who are moaning remember this. The event tonight isn't a case of if you miss it then thats the end. The models actually suggest our cold spell hasn't even started yet. The potential from tomorrow into next week is huge.

Still touch and go for Hertfordshire tonight I think (at least in east Herts anyway).

The ECM tonight was a cracking run again, I wonder if the Meto extended forcast today

was more a bit of wishcasting as the ECM shows no sign of a breakdown to the very

cold and wintry weather.

Sorry Alpine Glow , it's hard to read peoples emotions on a forum :)

But it is snowing in parts of Brighton though , so hopefully it turns for you :)

Where on Earth do you get your somewhat dubious info from Neil?

I know.. :) that was my main worry but after a troublesome start it seems to want to stick now :) Do you think it will continue to fall?

Move a bit further east!! At this rate west london will get pasted and we'll struggle to get a dusting.
