UK regions:

Wales

South West England

Heavy Snow Sun 10 Jan

There is a moderate risk of severe weather affecting parts of Wales and Southwest England.

Outbreaks of snow are expected, which could locally become heavy and prolonged at times, especially over the far southwest of England where there will also be some drifting in the strong winds. This will lead to further icy stretches on roads and pavements.

BBC forecasts all over the place. First they show snow all over the South, then only for the S.E

Now some people say that the snow event is over and the SW won't see anything Sunday and Monday?

What is going on?

I think we should just stick our heads out of the window and watch the radar and ignore the TV

forecasts as they are all over the place?

Is it supposed to be getting milder with rain by Wednesday?

The Forecast Poetry Style,

Snow in the South east nothing in the West

Lets concentrate on London we don't care about the rest

We're funded by westminster, THe national Met

But never trust our forecasts if your placing a bet

Our GW agenda suits is to the core

We rabbiting on day after day, the bore, bore , bore

Oh yes one coner of the map is more relevant than the rest

Yes you've got it, its the East and definetly not the West

Sunday shall see widespread snow as long as its in the East

A dusting is significant we'll call it the Eastern Beast

The West will plough themselves out free

Whilst We consentrate on Essex, Kent and Surrey.

News 24 with its presenter across the country

Well within a 30 mile diameter of Essex, Kent and Surrey

Oh no it's an ice age 2cm in Buckingham

The tubes shut down with 50 miles of traffic jams,

Let's concentrate on London because it's the South East

It's the worsly affected place from that Eastern Beast

We'll forget about the West and the shivering North

Our focuse lies solely on canary warf

BBC just SE biased every forecast.....

AND the forecasters even cover us up with their arms and hands when they are pointing to the SE. As someone else said recently, you can get a sore throat shouting at the telly, telling them to "MOVE OUT OF THE WAY".

Perhaps we ought to take it up with Ian when he re-appears?

See Ian's quick forecast at http://news.bbc.co.u.../2946?area=GL11

does not seem as though we will be getting much on sunday........

That was always the forecast, the depths build up from the sheer length of time it snows, rather than how heavy it is.

I cant strees two points enough here, and please dont take this as me having a go at anyone because this is not my intention :drinks:

1) heavy snow was never forecast for the SW or for a majority of southern england - it was always forecast as mostly light but persistent snow, and thats what it will be

2) keeping an eye on the radar is the only way to forecast this one - its an upper front, the surface interaction with the front is very much uncertain

Other than that the biggest problem has always and will be the drifting of the snow coming down along with the stuff already on the ground.

Then as we head into next week the likelihood of at least a spell of snow, whether or not it turns to rain is very much up in the air

Still doesn't justiy the South east bias that is really hacking me off

Hi Adam,

Whilst i'd agree there always has been and will be a SE bias this is for a reason - this is where the most people live! if snow is going to hit london and bristol the focus will always be on london because there it going to affect 7m people - thats the problem of living on such a densly populated island, too small for regional 24 hour television networks, and really too populated to do without such a service

However that gets thrown out the window in this instance because there is going to be much heavier snow in the SE as it spreads out the continent - im not ruling out the possibility of it being heavy at times here in the SW too, but the models are showing the heaviest falls over SE england, and they simply cant ignore the risk of another 4-8 inches falling there

Hope this helps

Kind Regards

SK

Here's an idea.

Why not enjoy the snow we already have on the ground and if we get some more over the coming days, then great, if not then we can go back to normal and enjoy spring :)
