We've done quite well in N Norfolk with a good 2-3 inches overnight blown about into more impressive 6 - 8". At the moment we seem to be in a snow shield - can't quite see where the next band of precipitation is coming from. More concerning though is the rise in temps that will accompany any precipitation, especially tomorrow. GFS has dewpoints forecast to be widely at 1C across the region tomorrow which is likely to make things much more marginal. Obviously better the further inland you go, ie towards East Mids. Would be good to get some more snow though but I'm less optimistic at the moment.

I saw this on Friday when I drove 10 miles up the M1 from MK.

I actually felt gutted for the snow lovers of Northants, Abington Parks has some excellent slopes for sledgin down, I spent may days there in my youth.

Although, back in Feb 2008, Npton had about 6 inches when MK had 2, swings and round abouts I suppose, snow seems to be the most unpredictable type of weather, I am sue I you want it, it knows and stays away, then when you least expecting it, or thinking about it, or take your eveys off the forums and radars for a few days, then bam.

I hope you get some tonight/tomorrow, I really want a snow day on Monday, I battled to work every day last week, on Thursday, I was the only person in the office!! Mug?

Well for me personally as i drive for a living and next week will be spending nights out sleeping in the cab of my lorry, I'm looking for mild SW winds, on the other hand I'd love to see Northants buried knee deep in snow just for my kids sake. they are sick to death of seeing the rest of the country buried in snow while northamptonshire has a pathetic covering.

That is worrying. Maybe we will be ok. Time will tell I guess.

According to the latest forecasts, it looks like tonight's and tomorrow's snow will be mainly confined to Kent, South of London, parts of London and the northern most coastal parts of East Anglia. A big downgrade on earlier it seems.

Are you sure? :):p

What do yuo think of the latest radar returns, deffinatly turning towards us, but what would be the Southern limits of it? Kent?

it should deffinatly pep up over the sea.

That really is rubbish IMO after looking at the latest radars, are you looking at the BBS forecasts?

Yeah, was the BBC forecast. They have got it wrong so many times this week, and keep changing them today, but it got me thinking that perhaps East Herts won't see anything/much. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.<_<

Just after my last post I popped out in the car and the snow got a little heavier...to the extent I could see flakes settling.

Stopped now more or less.

i did laugh when I heard the Five Live commentator describe conditions at the Emirates as "Blizzard-hit"! <_<

Grrrrrrr.

I see the snow on the rain today radar is dissapering when it moves inland, and does not seem to be progressing north.

All we have is the cold here in the MK, currrently -2.9c at 4pm, that a cold one.

Anyone around here got any lower at the mo?

Just been checking the radat and it seems MK is going to miss most of the snow tonight it will mainly pass to the south of you (over Stevenage) <_<

PS Have you finished that wardrobe yet?

i think our best chances of seeing something is from the showers going on now more than from the "big event" that was being built up around sunday a couple of days ago

Blimey. I disappear for a few days and find that my location has been moved!

Better than being lumped in with that lot from Kent and Essex though <_< Good idea.

Beautiful ice day here again today but no snow. Did have a tiny bit last night - no melt of the five inches or so from Tuesday night which is great.

Let's see what happens over the next 48 hours...
