12Z NAE looks to keep any precipitation as snow over Western West Yorks and central pennnine belt until 12pm tomorrow - obviously this could all change as the night wears on.

is the temps rising tonight? just managed to get on the right side of marginal but bloody on the knife edge though

Just had a really heavy snow shower here for past half hour! Roads are covered again, and by looking at the radar there seems to be more to come?

Look at the 5pm radar, the precipitation is exploding into life biggrin.gif temperature here now 1.4C, slowly falling..

Just looked out the window, now moderate snow with big flakes! Not settling yet, I'm guessing it will take a few hours until temps drop low enough.

just thought i'd sneak out of Lancashire to see whats heading my way

currently snowing heavily in Bacup and the radar seems to be showing quite a large area in West Yorkshire heading this way.

anyone in the Halifax area care to fill me in - not literally of course.

Cheers Ian

Just had 20 minutes of fairly heavy snow, a bit lighter now but blowing in a brisk wind, it's certainly heading towards you according to the radar

Just got in from a walk up on the tops and it was quite challenging in places, not so much current falling snow, but the drifting snow, which at times felt like walking through tiny needle showers. Some of the drifts at least five feet deep, and I was up to my waist a few times, pretty knackering to be honest. I didn't bother taking the camera today as it was too overcast and dull, but to give you an idea, here's a few from yesterday, and the drifts have grown considerably since then.

This is a view from the same place

And lastly, the pub, I wish I'd had a ruler on me to get a proper depth

Snowing moderately at present, temp. maxed at -0.1C today, now at -0.7C, so another ice day, not sure how many we've had so far since mid-December, but I'd guess it must be at least double figures.

Still confident this is going to bring a good dumping to parts of Yorkshire away from the coast......Look at the GFS 12z, the heavier precip was never due to arrive until later on this evening......With people reporting snow already even at lower levels, temperatures falling, dew points falling, more precip gonna start to push in from the North Sea soon, things are looking good!

Had a terrific walk this afternoon. Mile and a half to the top of the Wolds from the village, another mile and a half along the top at 150/160m, then 2 miles back to the village.

Along the top the minor road is full of snow right across to a depth of 3 to four feet. Had a chat with the local farmer trying to clear it and he said it hadn't been this bad for years. Even he managed to get stuck and it took him an hour and a half to dig it out!

Really hard walking, so had to go in the field at times, but even there the snow is a foot deep or more.

Has been snowing lightly this afternoon and a little thawing in the village but none on the hills. Currently, it's not snow or rain, but more like frozen rain/hail, which stung like hell when walking into the wind.

Temp 1.5 (falling) DP -1.
