...and a nice lingering front from the west that collides with the cold air over the midlands and just gets stuck. Slowly fizzling out, but only after hours of thundersnow !

Yeah! that sounds perfectly reasonable to me, the bloody southeast/north/southwest/northwest/northeast/south/west/east...have all had their fair share...as the advert says "the middle is always the best" :D

It's just more of the micro flakes that we had here all afternoon.

Nothing to get excited about

i'm excited!!! lol!

Tbf I haven't seen forecasts today cause they seem useless recently! But hight is decent and we had moderate to light snow on and off all day but only started to settle when dark so I'm hoping for abit overnight!

we've had them also all day but now they're settling and the intensity is increasing :)

Radar does look better now.

Will just have a nosey out the window......

The intensity has certainly picked up now.

Looking out to the east the visibility seems much reduced also, so more snow heading this way perhaps.

maybe getting a bit more excited now. :D

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm was just watching Jimmy White vs Mark King on interactive (CMON JIMMY!!) and I let my dog out in the garden and noticed it was snowing. I thought it was a bit odd considering how little precip was around when I last checked the radar about 2 hours ago. Well just had a look now and it looks interesting! Maybe it won't be a non event after all :) Some moderate stuff heading my way, could give a fresh dusting.

im no expert at all but it looks like the showers from the east are heading northwards before they get to the west midlands so wouldnt expect anything from that band.

are we supposed to be getting any of the stuff form the west over ireland??

Light rain here at the moment and the thaw really is starting to progress now.

Nice that we're having rain/sleet here right now...just to wet the ground in case something interesting arrives!

To be honest, i don't hold up much hope for the rest of the night. Its wet and murky out there and not pleasant at all. If thats what its going to do then the heavier precipitation can stay away!

Rob mcelwee seems to suggest rain/sleet for less than 200m asl, precip can stay away then

although just started snowing very lightly

Oh no we're all doomed now.! Quick! Clear out the supermarkets, it's gonna be the big one! :)

On a lighter note, light snow here.

Its turned back to snow here...but everything is just too wet for it to settle and its just a mess out there.

My only chance is some really heavy snow to lay down a new base. I don't see that happening tonight.

This is making me so so grateful for the 5th Jan snowfall otherwise today could have been awful! Thank goodness we had some good snowfall last week!

Whats with the exploding radar? everythings like 12 hours behind the forecast and a lot further south than the GFS said.

Nothing falling here currently though..
