winds gusting 53 mph at the moment.

boy its good to have this back :rolleyes:

ok I don't think its going to be the strongest storm this winter and I can see it beating 78.8 mph the current record but its nice to have any kind of storm

Met Office have there attention on the heavy rain tonight but do mention gales to severe gales. Net Weather have a alert issued for severe gales 60 to 70mph.

wind really picking up in the last hour or so here, SE'ly gales setting in, expecting the strongest winds around 0000-0300 gusts around 55-65mph around the irish sea coasts and 60-70mph in parts of scotland. but still windy through the early part of the day.

measuring SE'ly 39.6mph sustained winds and top gust of 63.5mph, it seems all but the met office warning of severe gales...

extremely windy here on the cumbrian coast, with st bees recording sustained winds into the mid 40's and over 60mph gusts.

my max sustained wind 41mph max gust 65mph.

71 mph on Uist is fairly windy, but I expect you're used to that kind of severity fairly regularly weathermaster.

cant sleep at all in this, scary gusts atm went outside and recorded a gust of 66mph from 47mph mean, severe gales battering many western and northern areas right now, also heard a pretty unhealthy noise on my roof!!

looking back over the wind history, st bees head 67mph gust at 3am with a mean of 46mph.

It looks as if this gale wasn't bad at all. Peak non-mountain/non-coastal gust was Altnaharra at 66mph, according to WeatherOnline:

Comparing this "storm" to what you would call a proper storm is a bit like comparing San Marino to Germany at football I suspect though Cookie.
