Just waiting for the other charts to update now

SK

By and large very similar, with a cm or or 2 added for most areas (particularly wales), good 18Z update.

do I read it right (guessing the School) that some of your children get to go tobogganing on Bulbarrow then? lucky so and so's if they do - I struggle to get up there when I can for some of the best runs in Dorset.

Not while they're at school! laugh.gif But yes, I do believe they have had some fun tobogganing! And finding chinooks in fields! laugh.gif

I see a 9 over Bristol. Less than half an inch then?

Think I'll move back to Fishponds. I hear they are getting LOADS! :)

18Z GFS keeps the front further SW (better news for Devon, taking less into SE England, but also less into glocestershire.

Very similar to UAE really with high totals, in Devon, South Wales, Somerset and into Dorset and Wiltshire.

Devon by 12.00-15.00

Somerset 17.00-21.00

Dorset 22.00-00.00

Rest of SW 00.00 onwards.

Very rough start timings from both 18Z

GFS 18z certainly more in line with the Ian Fergusson update...though from what ive seen of the NAE so far that hasnt really changed much since 12z so still a very confused picture

All I can say is look at the main snow event last week and how long it took to get the detail nailed on for that one even up until 12 hours away - i'm not comfortable with any model output until the morning to be honest, wouldnt suprise me to see things slip yet further south - equally north

thanks for this. Are there anymore hints that the situation may prolong the cold spell, or are things still going to warm up from there after?

yes but bath is south east of us so if there gonna get then we should too coz the whole thing is moving west and anyways im sure it will go up into glous before it peels away but 1 thing is for sure im gonna be lookin at that radar with extreme hope in my heart lol

18z NAE is delaying the PPN slightly compared to the 12z, this to me would suggest that it is predicting the block to be harder to break than first progged, it also fits in my mind with Ice's comment about the 18z GFS not letting the PPN get so far north...

What I cannot figure out is how this will impact me in Poole....

UPDATE... Looking at the 24hr chart on the 18z NAE, there seems to be more leading edge rain than the 12z, awaiting the crucial 30hr

Bulbarrow and snow yahoo.gif great fun! Hod and Hambledon Hill are pretty good as wellbiggrin.gif

They sent our lot in Blandford home just as it was stopping and we didn't have that much! Think it was more about the teacher having to go home because of where they live and not having enough staff to cover the kids.

Am hoping we will get some decent snow here tomorrow, but not holding my breath either, we've had quite a mixture here today, it was coming down looking like sleet and rain but we got a covering of what seemed like tiny hail or snow pellets - not too good at the technical stuff lol.

Hi all BTW, have been lurking... joined before but for the life of me can't remember old login and can't access old email so made a new one.

I'm not banking on snow this time around (had this been Feb with colder sea temps then maybe) but cannot help feeling things will return better still for us in a week or two. Best Dorset snow often in Feb or even March.

The best run - road down N face of Bulbarrow at night when the road is iced and not gritted - manic!!! (I'll probably kill myself there eventually) Not tried Hod , isn't it a bit bumpy?
