    Can any one tell why the birds are building there nests already?

    Ive never seen such a rush to build nests. Black birds and magpies especially.

    Is it a sign of something?

    I saw on Spring/snowatch that certain types of bird have done far better out of the cold spell compared to others. And it is the ones that have done well which are nesting earlier.
