I'm going to wait (if that's not too cheeky :) ) for a couple of days but I'd be surprised if it ended up above average after the winter so far.

There are signs of a good block setting up early/mid February and if this comes off... another very cold month could be just around the corner.

I think I'll leave my revised punt a few days, needless to say at least a 40-50% shot at a month coming in even colder then Jan...the chances of another lengthy cold shot looks high, even if it may yet take several bites of the cherry so to speak.

I'm still fairly new to all this so I've held on until now as, until a few days ago, February looked to be the hardest month to call of the winter. While there seemed to be a consensus early on that January would be a cold month, opinions on Feb have been very mixed with some experts / forecasts going for a milder month and others going for a continuation of the winter's cold synoptics.

It's time to put in a punt I think and as recent charts seem to have increased the balance in favour of cold, at least for the early part of the month , I'm going to go for 2.9. After all, as the saying goes, you wait all day 13 years for a bus sub 3.0C month and then two come along at once... maybe! :cc_confused:

I will be revising my prediction downward tommorow, just not sure by how much.

The PIT, do you want 5.0C, or 9.2C???

Ive made my decision. It looks unlikely that we will see a long atlantic spell this month. I will revise my prediction down from 3.2 to 2.6C for the time being, I may revise it again on the 31st

think I may lower mine now to 4.2°C, from 7.1°C, my guess for Feb, mild first 5 days, 6th-18th cold with high pressure maybe inversion setup, 19th-28th fairly mild, mildest period of winter 09/10
