A stunning day in the south lakes. Wall to wall blue skies and sunshine, after a low of -2 degrees it climbed to 4 degrees around 2pm bit then quickly dropped to 0 degrees just after the sun went down. Its very bitter right now with a sharp frost.

I was on Black Combe at lunchtime, views superb in the arctic air, Snowdon easily visible. More to come tomorrow...

A heavy snow shower and squally wind just before midnight last night, added to the slight covering.

Clear spells and frost through the night, especially later, wind eased to moderate.

Anybody know why there's alerts out on netweather???? The radar looks fairly quiet bar normal shower activity. Evening forecast was going on about showers getting more active but no sign of it.
