For the small village of Harpford, East Devon

A very cold month overall compared to what we have been used to. Cold and quite sully first third with snowfall totalling about 6cm overnight 5th-6th and on the 6th. This lasted until the night of the 11th into the 12th, with two very cold nights on the 7th and 8th, with mins of -11.7°C and -12.2°C! probably the coldest here over 20 years. after this it generally turned milder with a few maximums above 10°C and quite unsettled with a few pretty wet days, giving a bit of flooding in places and leading to very high rivers a couple times (esp the 16th). It was generally quite cool or cold in the second third of the month with a dusting of snow on the 30th.

Mean: 1.8°C (about -2.9°C below average)

Days of falling snow: 8 (5th,6th,8th,10th,11th,30th,31st Jan) - mainly very light.
