Amusingly wetterzentrale shows just one strike over land today :D

This was near London about 1600.

The only other strike near our shores was north of Scotland.

What a change from the last 2 days despite there still being a rash of showers.

Having said that the cb towers were noticably lower today as if they reached a peak halfway to yesterdays levels. One shower cloud I saw today had the cauliflower top but it was almost flat whereas yesterdays kept bubbling and had anvils.

What would have caused them to stop growing today :?:

That sounds like warmer air higher up.

It would hinder their development to no end.

Had a few big Cb's knocking around today, had a brief hail shower aswell.

But that was all I saw.

Quitier all round then. We did have some heavy rain which lasted for nearly an hour around lunch time today but nothing impressive.

Two brief, but intense rain/hail showers. No thunder to report.

Great pics Phil, again today a similar thing to the rest of the week, some great cloudscapes, loads of convective build up , a hail shower or two, but no electrification...

Great pics there. I have witnessed a few familiar sites in the sky around my area. I have one intense hail shower to report. I am quite upset though that i have yet to see some thunderstorm activity.

Bit late in posting, but an impressive hail shower here about 3pm on Wednesday, at one point had marble sized hail. Gave a complete covering lasting for over an hour and "drifted" hail upto 5cm depth in places. So much so, some of it lasted until after dark and froze overnight in the odd corner.

Generally it was a very cloudy day, with hefty and frequent showers moving across the Fens from the Wash into this area, so impossible to see the vertical development of the showers as they were no cloud breaks.

No thunder though. Haven't heard a clap or seen a flash all week.
