A moderate frost followed the snow yesterday afternoon. So a wintry scene this morning with around 0.5cm of snow. The temperature fell to –2.3c and –7.3c on the snow early last night, but began a steady rise through the night as cloud increased. Currently at observation, partly cloudy and bright. Temperature –0.3c.

Yesterday:

A bright start with a widespread frost. Low overnight only dropped to –0.4c, though the northerly wind has been blowing between force 2 and force 3 for the most part of the night. At observation, sunny and cold with a force 4 northerly wind. The morning saw further sunny spells, but cloud increased at times, enough to produce light to moderate graupel and snow showers. The afternoon saw a couple of heavy graupel and snow showers, with an accumulation of around 1cm by 18:00GMT. Feeling very cold, the temperature briefly reached 3.6c around lunch time, but quickly fell again during the afternoon to be a little below freezing by 15:30GMT.

Quite differently to the forecasts for the wind to ease today it is the strongest of the week so far (except for gusts in snow showers yesterday) and therefore the coldest day of the week, currently just 1.6c with good sunny spells and patches of Altocumulus, Cumulus and Stratocumulus.
