Looks like snow for my location tomorrow just outside Wolverhampton yahoo.gif unless there is another change the forecast. Here's hoping anyway that all of the midlands gets a pasting!

I hope so.

I guess I may miss out on some accumulating snow, with that updated snow risk reducing the further East you are. Still, even some wet snow will be a nice return from the murky weather I've had in the last few days. Plus, the dam's are looking good with 527 or below predicted; (at least when I checked the local snow risk forecasts). cool.gifsmile.gif

This is a really tricky one. I'm just pleased that we're back in with a chance.

I'm around 90m here....its quite possible to have it wet here but several cm of snow up in Brierley Hill just 1 mile away. Its happened on the 23rd December.

This may not end up as the biggest snowfall of the winter...but its certainly one of the most puzzling to work out at such a short range!

(I have seen some snow today...went for a train trip up to the north west. Hit a big snow shower around Rochdale and some fantastic anvils around up there today!)

Certainly looks interesting tomorrow for Worcs/Gloucs and your area.

It certainly doesnt look like the bog standard light to moderate stuff. More persistent heavy or very heavy. :)

The precip band is intensifying towards its north eastern extent. wouldnt rule out some snow in the next 2 hours chris.

cold, very frosty and foggy start -2.8°C minimum, may look okay today after all, NW midlands look like getting snow, but tomorrow nights snow taking more of a 21 Dec 2009 track, so only S SW AND SE midlands seeing that,

yeah and wednesday seems the snowiest day this winter as well, hope so again today

Precipitation total over the next 48 hours looks nice for us - just depends on whether it's the white stuff or not.

Have Noticed that over the last hour or so mate , but it needs to intensify more or even if it does get here it as it stands it will be rain . Tomorrow has a warm sector involved so we will need even more luck ... Things just dont look as good as 12 hours ago mate :D Fingers crossed though .

Immediately we may all see just sleet, but there's quite a high chance that it'll have turned to snow by midday, (perhaps except in the "very" south midlands...)

Morning all. Key to snow today are 1/ Elevation and 2/ heavy precipitation [evaporative cooling]. Certainly the Western Midlands looks favourable even at low levels for snow at some point but if youre on high ground you will see the best chance [as always with this sort of set up. You will notice with the charts ive posted a surface flow from a very cold continent, favourable 850mb temps and given enough heavy precip chance of rain turn to snow event even on low ground. Ive highlighted in a red circle the areas likely to see potential snow. PS .A tip, if you have radar the brighter the colours coming to you would mean a good chance of snow!! :cold::clap:

Thanks. What's it been like where you are? Precip hasn't quite arrived here yet.

Hi. Yes its a rainy/sleety mix here, I notice you are about a thousand feet asl so looking good for some lying snow for you in a bit, if the precip is heavier enough!

Morning Higher Ground.

I think you might be lucky given your location and elevation but I suspect you'll be on the border line of any PPN falling as snow. West/North West of Brum will be very marginal especially at lower elevations. I suspect the Bridgnorh/Telford/Shrewsbury guys (and probably me) will be somewhat dissappointed today.

However, I live in hope & have packed the Army Surplus shovel and hesian sacks in the car!

Edit: Dudley showing +1ºc Temp & Dew Point already

It does look like some of the precip will be heavy enough, but not clear whether it will be sustained enough to give a decent accumulation.

Good news for anybody west of Birmingham is that in Hereford, it started off as rain, but now, with a little heavier precipitation, it is turning readily to sleet/wet snow and thats only 60m ASL.

Yes looking very marginal generally. But who knows what might be pulled out of the hat? Dew points go up, dew points go down...........

Edit: just saw first snow flakes floating around in the mist

like has been said, given your mighty elevation, that should stand you in better stead this morning. are you in romsley or something?

Where i am on the Lickey Hills is about the same height as the very top of Romsley, and Waseley (about 286m/935 feet). The top of the Lickeys is 298m (about 980 feet) and the top of the Clent Hills is 315m (about 1030 feet).

Snow is gradually increasing in intensity now (though still v light), and the flakes are pretty slow to melt. It will be good to see lying snow if only for the brightening effect it will have: very grey out at the mo with visibility no more than 200m.

Small flakes but moderately heavy snow here currently. We had about half an inch yesterday which was a combination of snow pellets and more fluffy snow, much of which is still lying.
