Another graupel shower rolling in by the looks of it. They don't make these Cheshire Gap streamers like they used to...

They are only minute changes on the grand scale of things, but what a huge amount of difference it is making in terms of where the snow is and isn't!

Yep no doubt about it some massive differences thats for sure, its a very complex situation so there could be big changes going on right upto just 12hrs before the set-up, I remember Feb 07 had similar forecasting issues and the models still disagreed even as the event was occuring!

If anything this is even more complex!

This run would give some parts a big snowfall, W.midlands would get hammered in this evolution I'd have thought.

But no doubt the 18z will show Scotland getting battered instead! I really do not envy whoever is responsible for putting advisories out for all this, they might as well just cover the whole country yellow!

THIS IS MAD. heaviest snow of the winter for a time, what a shower, doesnt look that big so seem to have got very lucky, another inch from this in next to no time.

Yeah you got lucky, here in Nuneaton we got it but only smaller flakes, and intensity only picked up at the last minute, now it has stopped, leaving pretty much no additional snow on the ground. I enjoyed it anyway.

It started again in Nuneaton after my last post but still the small stuff, quite intense but not enough to make any difference.

Id say you are in for a fairly good chance if it doesnt fizzle out, but you will be lucky to get anything impressive from it.

Can't believe how unlucky I have been then. Just bursts of heavy graupel, presuming you had proper snowflakes?

Nice photos there Fordy, the radar shows the shower you've had quite nicely, quite potent as well it seems, certainly the strongest of the showers that are coming in from the Chesier Gap thats for sure. More weaker showers heading in to your area as well in the next hour.

Can see all the excitement to my north and east as we miss out once again.

2 days running we've come close to something decent but ended up with very little or nothing.

On the plus side...the clent hills are sticking out like a giant white thumb!

Had another beasty snow shower about 45 minutes ago, left another dusting on cars etc. Big 50p snowflakes, floating around in the air. Things starting to look very marinal for sunday/monday here - hopefully that low pressure doesn't come to far north allowing milder air in.

NAE has a snow event for the Midlands on Sunday morning, its been quite keen on this set-up though this is the most widespread version of it as well. Though the 12z GFS still isn't quite as keen it now does suggest a possible snow event for the west Midlands. The evolution is pretty much the same on both runs but the key differences stem from exactly where they have the set-up, as the GFS has it a bit further north whilst the NAE favours more southern parts of the Midlands.

Yeah looking at the radar its hit you quite well in Wellingborough, Northampton not so lucky. We just had another brief burst of the small stuff in Nuneaton.
