Hmmm, interesting update to the advisories issued by the Met Office just after 11:00am this morning...

This is what they've got for tomorrow for a fairly large chunk of the South West...

There is a moderate risk of severe weather affecting parts of England and Wales. Rain spreading north may turn to snow and has the potential to give accumulations of 2 to 5 cm in places, with in excess of 7cm on high ground.

Issued at: 1103 Sun 21 Feb

I thought any snow risk this far South had disappeared?!... cc_confused.gifunknw.gif

It is a shame that we have just a nice setup for PPN and the cold has just vanished.

    No big push, nothing.

    It just evaporated away.

Spose i ought to get ready for storm season then

Another Met Office warning out at 16:12 for HeavySnow SW England...not for Cornwall and Devon we get the rain wacko.gif

Yep!... Obviously the Met Office know something we don't, as looking through the charts (the simple ones that I can understand!), there's no sign of even a possibility of snow!!

I'm not taking any notice of the Meto warnings. Weston has been under warnings for snow for the last two days and have not had one snowflake.

Tomorrow will almost certainly be a rainy day. On the plus side it has been a beautiful weekend with lots of sunshine & feeling warm. Kind of makes you feel like Spring has sprung.

As long as we can return another below average Month, then I really not bothered if Spring starts in Ernest.

My temperature is falling still slowly 3.0c but i am confused! Can anyone honestly explain to me what reason the meto have for putting a weather warning up for somerset/bristol ect?

I am not having a dig at them i just don't understand how when even the most up to date bbc forecasts/models paints a very wet and grim picture with no mention of even high ground snow? cc_confused.gifhelp.gif

GFS puts the freezing level tomorrow morning at approx 400m for the areas mentioned above. However the precip stays along way south on the 12Z. However even NAE keeps things marginal with DP's, 950 temps etc between -1 and 1.

The GFS would put the snow level at approx 250m on the back edge as the colder air moves in.

NAE puts the snow level at probably 350m.

Certaintly alot of rain for everyone, but the chance that higher ground might get something on the backedge, very little chance of it settling IMO but hey ho.

Thanks iceberg, Its very remote that chance i would think and like you said it would not be in with a chance of laying so to put an advisory up for a possible 7cm+ on high ground seems strange (advisories when confidence levels are 60% or greater) ??

BBC Radio 2 have just forecast 5-10cm for West Country and South Midlands unsure.gifdrinks.gif

    lazy.gifclap.gifrofl.gifrofl.gif no chance
