I must say I was not expecting it to feel as cold as it is today! I can't access my station to see what it is at moment but i bet its close to the 0-1c mark. Computer probably crashed or sumin similar! rolleyes.gif

So question remains is there a chance that we could see some heavy snow tomorrow or will it be a cool rainy day?

I think if today is anything to go by we certainly could. Even this morning nothing but rain was forecast and most of us saw nothing but snow! drinks.gif Happy days.

Yep, a very good morning for those who enjoy seeing a bit of snow!

Just had a look at the latest NAE run... There's gonna be a fair bit of precip around for the South West from around 06:00 (12:00 for the Somerset/Wiltshire area).

Like you say, what will it be???... cc_confused.gif

Lets just hope we hang on to the cold air! good.gif

We ended up with quite a bit of snow in the end, big flakes as well, although none of it settled. It is very cold outside tonight

Latest GFS run still toying with the idea of moderate snow for parts of the South West Thursday night into Friday!...

One run it's heavy rain, the next one it's snow, then rain, then snow!...

Blurrrrrgh! :)

If I have learnt anything from a year of amateur weather watching it is to not set yourself up for a disappointment, expect rain and then anything else is a pleasant surprise. :)

As was this morning!

Thought we had a 0% chance of snow, then looked out the window this morning to see it was snowing!...

Then we had a 30 minute blizzard at work! Nice!

Not expecting any more really (I think this morning was a fluke)!... But who knows :D

Bit late to tell you, but it was snowing this morning here!

Nothing stayed around but fun driving to work in the falling snow.

Enough on the hills to go sledging again. Yipeeclap.gif

Not too late! I've only just arrived home from work. Working in the north Cotswolds this morning and it was very snowy out near Bourton-on the-Water and Stow- on - the Wold. A good inch of the white stuff, settling on the roads and traffic chaos with jack-knifed lorries. Although I live in Stroud I work all over the Cotswolds area and this is definately the best place to be if you like snow - except last Thursday when all the snow was in the Foreset of Dean. Still snow on the ground North of about Northleach.

Will be interesting tomorrow to see what we get??!! - I'm guessing if the DP stays low enough - who knows. We could be in for a surprise.

Was interesting this morning, I left Frome about 6am and it was heavy rain all the way into Bristol (centre) - then we had maybe 30mins or so of constant snow (nothing heavy/settled etc) - but i was surprised.

And speaking with the missus it was also snowing in Frome for a while this morning as well - just wondering why it wasnt snowing at 6am - but it was mid morning??!!

All the best :)

Do you want me to sing? :) You'll have to be quick though, I am busy.

It seemed to get colder as the day went on though didn't it. I do hope temps start to rise soon, it has been a long old winter.

Yep. At around 11pm last night it was just under 5°c and then this morning it was 1.5°c!

Still pretty chilly this evening.

Yeah, I thought it was meant to turn back to rain, but it didn't (well, not in Bath at any rate!)...

I wonder if the cold air is putting up more of a fight, as the precipitation never made it very far North... It went over to the South East!...

Was that meant to happen???

Any lower and you'll need paddles! :)

I don't know what time the rain/sleet/snow/graupel/hail is supposed to arrive in these parts tomorrow, so maybe you'll see a bit before you leave...?

No I don't think it was and it wasnt meant to fall as widespread snow either... I drove into bristol this morning and as usual I was waiting for snow to turn to sleet then rain as i decend but although it was quite wet snow in bristol it was still snow

Not to sure if I'm honest. Didn't Ian F mention it would go as far North as S Midlands, then arch SE'wards??

Well just checked Ian's blog and it looks like my trip to south somerset could leave home with some transient snow which will be of rain by the time i return! wallbash.gif

"The greatest risk of snow will be for any areas of high ground above 150-200 metres, facing eastwards."

Let me guess "Gurney Slade" is east facing and over 200mts :cc_confused:

It became every bit the nowcast issue we expected based on the 00z NAE we started the morning forecasts with and for the 0600z update, we were catering for the colder 'backwash' across much of Somerset and Wilts albeit not really relevant for our forecast purposes (not significant / disruptive snow - that was always signalled, correctly, for NE Glos and NE Wilts).

Tomorrow is effectively a wet one for most (WBFL's will be above 1000m by mid afternoon across much of our region.... phew, scorchio) BUT do note the geographic caveats outlined on my blog based on the very latest UKMO assessment. Still a snow chance for some of you, but it's not a widespread one at levels <100m AMSL.

PS pls note blog was updated a few mins ago

Do you think I will get a chance to see snow if indeed it falls as snow in mendips around 10am? I could delay the trip by being late... what a shame that would be.
