so another update from the NAE - which goes against the GFS - the pink bits are snow - lightish snow at that

map refers to 12 midday tomorrow - but this may not be right either - could be better or worse

Cardiff bay stats:

Temp:4.2c but windchill 1.5

Dewpoint has dropped to 0.4 (0.6 last night)

Wind has veered NEasterly and strengthening.

Could this keep those showers from disappearing into England I wonder?!!!

Im back in good old Wales drinks.gif Got off the plane in Heathrow asmorning walking down the steps of the plane to get the bus back to the terminal and I was like ahhh good old british weather,,,,,,, raining and cold. I actualy missed the rain !!!! Had a good time in the USA I was surprised there wasnt as much snow in Vermont than there was in previous years I ve been. In the town of Rutland where I stayed before Tuesday of last week there wasnt any snow at all then 6inches fell and most of that melted the next day!!! lucky though there was snow up the mountains there about 32inches of it, not sure how much of that was fake though. Vermont missed out on the snowstorms just. It was nice to see snow here when I got home :) I hope for snow tonight as I got a Welsh Speaking Mock Exam in the morning and im rely jet lagged and havent learnt it so if I can get away with missing it It would be awesome:D There was more snow in NY than there was in the town of Rutland where I was staying.

Some light snow is possible for inland parts of SE Wales with some elevation also.

welcome home mate - don't think we're gonna get enough snow for you to take the day off tomorrow - but - we are unsure where this front is gonna end up coming out of france - so all to play for

Just been out in the garden doing my snow dance. The things I do for you lot who live further north and at higher levels.

Anyway - think it went well. Light rain (very) here at the mo, but I think that I have encouraged it to become slightly more wintery. I'm cold now.

GFS 18HZ is a much better run for southern areas than the 12Hz, in fact this is the 3rd such run in a row, to have the same effect.

Blow by blow account for snow potential on the 18Hz

Tonight into tomororw, largely dry after from the far SE of Wales, and only some very light rain here.

Into Tuesday morning low front well to the SW of the UK, with warm front ahead of it pushing north across Wales. Sleet/Snow possible on leading edge with 850Hpa aorund -2c, but plus zero 850HPA pushing in behind this turning this back to rain as does so. The front getting as far north as a line from North Wales across to the Humber.

For Wednesday The Low pressure then pushes east but with the mild air as far north as the England Scotland border.

However as it continues to move into Thursday, it drags in much colder winds from the NW bringing sub -5c 850HPA temps across Wales by morning, with the chance of a few wintry showers.

Another low pressure attempts to push up from the south later on Thursday, and this setup is very similar to that of Tonight/tomororw but with colder temps over Wales.

Staying cold into into with weekend with further lows attempting to push up from the south, and with sub 5c 850HPa air close by, perhaps this winter isn't quite over yet.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
