Minor isolated dump of the white stuff here on the north coast, a touch on the wet side but everything is white except the main road. Temp back down to -1.7 dp-3.4. Clear skies forecast for the rest of the night sadly.

I wish I lived at the other end though as it looks good on the radar for you guys in the south.

oooh yeah :)

It looks extremely heavy in southern scotland just now. This could be much heavier than December's fall

Just looking at radar and at the infamous lamp post out the back of the house - plenty of breeze and the first sporadic flakes beginning to fall as the northern edge of the front arrives.

Think it's going to be picture postcard stuff in the morning.

Can't account for your dewpoint wobbles LS. If its any consolation its seems to be localised and other more favourable dewpoints are in the relative vicinity in the Embra-Glesgae-Dundee areas. Maybe as it pushes north , what seems to be a localised situation will be replaced by a more general and favourable setup.

I used to keep temperature records in the 70's/80's and remember several times going to bed with air temps around 3, 4c and barely favourable dew points .. cursing the conditions ... and yet still waking up to good snowfall.

Keep the heid :)

On the plus side, humidity has dropped 2%! The NMM said temperatures would be about 3C here and would drop to 2C and stay that way through tomorrow so given it's 2C it might just go to 1C and stay that way. NAE suggested similar and showed initial stuff as light sleet before turning to heavy snow and across southwestern Scotland temperatures have dropped 2C when the band hit - so here's hoping!

edit: further temp. rise, humidity fall. Precipitation pushes temperatures down in general, so perhaps this is positive?

evaporative cooling LS. It tends to be prominent at this time of year.

Sky has turned orange here and totally clouded over now. The front is very near!

For this setup, but yeah number of times I have seen snow and Scotland hasn't, quite ironic really, I'm in the perfect position for nearly everything to do with snow.

A pretty impressive set-up developing for Scotland now, the models all seem to keep the precip over Scotland going for the next 36-48hrs. The snow line will inch northwards tomorrow but if you've still got snow at say 3-4pm then your going to keep it and probably end up getting some very large totals, away from the east coast where it does look like becoming very marginal by tommorow eveing from the NMM predictions.

Low lying areas could well see 6-9 inches of snow before all is done on Saturday in some parts the totals would be more probably if it were for temps during daytime probably causing slight melt. Exactly where the bullseye will be, I'm not at all sure but regardless this does look interesting!

Sorry for hijacking just south of your border (as my fellow north easterners must be at work in morn or bored of the snow) but I am shocked at the radar pictures as last time I checked models and Meto yesterday everything was shown south or north of geordieland, yet we have had an hour of medium to heavy snow here and the radar looks like dumping for a few more hours. So was wondering what the track of this snow event is going to take as have heard a few mention this is a slow moving ppn.

Anyhow those is southern/central scotland enjoy as it moves your way as this was a welcome surprise to me.

I might be wrong, or I hope i'm wrong, but the latest Northbound and Southbound camera's at Dunblane just north of Stirling look like a crash incident... Southbound has a truck on the far left, Northbound has (what looks like) a gritter with a car crashing into the side of it? I do hope i'm interpreting the images wrong.
