Hi NorthernRab,

I have to admit being a white settler. :acute:

I agree, there are sooooo many beautiful parts in Scotland, but I am rather fond of this part. It`s so diverse and still wild in places.

Ditto for the 2 Edinburghs Joes above ... by the time I left the house, snow had set in properly, even in Leith. Light covering developing Edinburgh-wide just now and airport at 0c/DP 0C, 100% saturation ... classic wet east-coast snowfall. Need the intensity to continue if we're to get a few inches out of it, by lunchtime in the city centre we'll either be sweeping it off the pavements or wistfully staring at some slushy patches and "what might have been" ... laugh.gif

OK I've resisted for months but here it goes: Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!! Kilmacolm!!! :acute:

I'm hoping you've seen what I'm talking about? :acute:

I almost choked when I saw that; although wasn't it "I'm from Kilmacolm" in defence of bad behaviour/being an idiot?? :good:

A good covering now. Got to the primary school to be told by the secretary that the school was open but that the kids could go home if they wanted. She said they couldn't be sure that we wouldn't get a phone call later to go and get them, but that if we needed the kids to go in (e.g. for parents who worked) then that was fine. I felt really sorry for the kids (with working parents) who were getting sent it, the majority of the kids had a parent/carer who wasn't working. There was much euphoria and celebration :acute:

Edit: We were one of the few parent/kids walking to school in the snow, the traffic was horrendous through the village with all the parents using their cars. BoyCatch was ecstatic that he wasn't stuck in a car. We had a great time doing huge doughnuts in the pub car park with ToddlerCatch's pram :acute:

:good: Does BoyCatch go to St.C's? You must live near Whitelea I am guessing if you were cutting through the pub car park? Just a guess as that's how we got to my mate's house and he lived in Whitelea

Definitely! Great area you live in, enjoying the sneachd? It's looking very good for your area over the next couple of days! :acute:

Anyone think that this'll turn to rain later and wash all the (lovely) snow away? :acute:

**virtual slap** NO!

:acute:

On a serious note i think this is just the start. From what I can see it is to get worse.

There are beautiful places even in the central belt; but north of the Clyde is a different league. We have one of the most beautiful countries in the world here and it's good that so many folk enjoy it :acute::good:

I'm in north Kelvinside *cough, Maryhill* and it's settling? Where abouts are you?

He is at Kilmacolm Primary, we live in Rosebank Terrace (the flats overlooking Whitelea Crescent) so cut through past the pub to get to the primary school. We are poor so we can't afford St. C's!! :good:

I'm in Cathcart. There's a slight settling on the grass but even then not much. Just seems to making everywhere wet. unsure.gif

When I were a lad (longer ago than I like to think) I used to work at Glasgow Airport. I remember doing huge doughnuts in the car park a few times in fairly deep snow. Driving on snow is amazing, but only in a front wheel drive mid-90s low budget car :good: I don't expect a flashy rear wheel drive BMW is much use (or fun).

Ahhh, see Catch I am all knowing and all seeing :good:

And you clearly aren't poor if you live in "ooooooooooooooo Kilmacolm!!!"

Script taken from Daily Record:

A man was released from custody today after an inquest into a series of Grand theft auto cases.

The grounds for release were described by Chief Inspector Ross Halford:

" Well, he was from Kilmacolm".

:D

There's a rumour circulating that the queen was spotted travelling up to the North of England to perform some polite, mannerly and inconspicuous Royal Donuts. More on this to follow.

Hello :acute: You`ve been missing out! Beautiful part of the world and gateway to Glen Affric. ( and very white at the moment :acute: )

Agree with that Stormy, i stayed in Tomich during the summer, what a beautiful place, to me it bettered skye or torridon, i'm seriously jealous of you, i bet its absolutely stunning in deep snow.

We had nothing but a few flakes early evening yestrday, now its just miserable misty and GREEN :good:

That's one thing I don't miss about living around there, lack of decent snow. I do miss living in Shawlands/Newlands area as it is really old out this way :acute: Average age in Kilmacolm is about 60.

Snowing a dillion here, sorry to anyone who isn't getting much. I promise to enjoy this snow :good: I can't wait for ToddlerCatch to go for his snooze as I will be going out to play in the snow, photos will be taken. Assuming it isn't raining by the time ToddlerCatch is sleeping :acute:

The rumours are now fact! Only the Queen has cut short her donut making in order to help out the town of Inverness with the Royal Snowplough.

Some real heavy snow in the last hour now about 3 inches and local radio in the tractor reporting a few travel problems. A day for just feeding the cattle and bedding them in the steading.Topped up the feeder with hay for the sheep in the field yesterday afternoon on the basis of the forecast and put more turnips out for them so they will be alright today. What seems to be a north wind is setting in also.

Ahem morning! Was up at 4am and we had a slight covering. Went back to bed and just got up and we have quite a covering. Without measuring, I would say around 2/3ins here. Falling quite heavily still tho' I'm a bit surprised really as dew points and temps are sitting at 1.1c? Still, lovely stuff!

Am enjoying the sneachd, but it`s going to making leaving the glen in a wee while very interesting.

Gritter has been twice, but the road is barely visible and the white stuff is still coming fast!
