UK Outlook for Sunday 15 Aug 2010 to Sunday 29 Aug 2010:

The second half of August will see further spells of rain or showers, mainly in northern parts of the UK. Other western parts, including Wales, may be occasionally wet at times but with a good deal of dry weather as well. The driest, brightest and warmest weather should be in the south and east of the UK. Rainfall amounts should be mainly average in the west of the UK, but more likely to be below average in eastern parts. For most of the UK, temperatures and sunshine amounts should also be around, or slightly above the seasonal average, although there are some signs of it becoming occasionally very warm again in parts of Wales and southern England.

It would appear then that the Met' Office are expecting the north/south split to continue until the end of August.

It all depends on the position of the dividing line as the month progresses as far as my own locality is concerned; a slight southward shift would mean a cooler and wetter month than July and a slight northward shift another mainly dry and warm month.

There's also the dismal possibility that August will be similar to July and end up dry, fairly warm and cloudy with nothing much happening at all.

Here's hoping that one or two ex-hurricanes stir things up a bit.
