Heavy wet snow showers during the early hours left 1cm, 70% cover. Low 0.5c, with –1.4c on the snow. At observation, sunny with gusty south-westerly wind. The snow is rapidly melting with 0.5cm and only around 40% cover around this station left, so doesn’t qualify as a day of snow lying at 09:00 GMT. The temperature is 5.4c the highest in the 24 hour period since 09:00 GMT yesterday. Sunny spells continued through the morning, though with increasing high and mid level cloud with a few showers breaking out. More prolonged rain commenced by later afternoon, feeling cold. Top temperature 7.9c. Maximum wind gust, 29mph W.

BBC have been caught out with this very slow band of rain currently moving north west, according to there radar we should be under heavy rain right now, however, it is bright with some blue sky. The rain doesn't look like getting here for at least another hour, and looks moderate at best and probably a short lived affair max 2 hours.

On account of the forecast yesterday eve, I though best not to go walking in the hills, wish I'd ignored the BBC so far its been a very usable day.
