going to be a huge ashfall downwind of that too judging by the colour of the plume now.

Pics of the damage to the Finnish F-18s:

Invisible dust dun it.

Lovely sight in the skies tonight, the thinnest sliver of as moon with Venus below.

Was looking at an almost identical sight out the window just a few minutes ago.

Current plume looking very impressive, is there any live seismic data for this volcano?

It will go dark in Iceland soon but if this was much closer to the Summer solstice, it would be light for much of the day. Looking at the webcam, the sun is setting now.

It still gets dark in April (sunset around 9pm, sunrise almost 6am). In June (when I visited) it never got dark - only twilight... very strange it was!

The plume appears to be slowly gaining height so i guess its intensity is increasing still.

It seems we have been amusing the Icelanders with our mis-pronunciation of the volcano. (apologies if this has been posted before.)

I've just been out and looked at that moon, it was lovely. Is the change anything to do with the ash.

Also the video on pronounciation was a good laugh.

On the webcam, one plume seems to be moving away/dieing out while another one is just bursting into life!

Yes, the ash eruption (dark grey stuff) has stopped & what you see now (the white cloud) is mostly steam apparently.

One of my life's ambitions was to go to Iceland and watch a volcano erupting. Now i can see it from my living room! Woohoo!

What a wonder is technology.

And even more of a wonder are the forces of nature. Awesome!
