Add 20mbar to graphed pressure.

Some maxima over-recorded, these have been adjusted in the stats but still show on the graphs above.

It was the second driest April in Northamptonshire since 1984, beaten only by April 2007 which saw just 1.6mm precipitation.

Was it? How much did you get? Just up the way 39mm in Coventry, which was totally unremarkable.

from 1600 on 28 April the main Davis data input was lost due pc problems but basic data was still logged from the other input. Temps in this period to whole C not 0.1C

long term averages, approx 60 years in brackets

Mean temp=9.9C (8.3)

Avge Max=15.4C (12.6) warmest day on 29th with 21.0C; coldest 8.8C on 19th

Avge Min=4.4 C (3.9) coldest night was 22nd with -0.6C and the warmest was 11.0C on 29th.

see note above about temperatures

Days of rain, 0.2mm or more=7

days with 1.0mm or more=5

total rainfall=15.4mm (40.5mm), with the wettest day being 29th with 7.6mm.

(Note:- rainfall is not anywhere near Met O acceptablility due very sheltered aspect: add approx 25% seems to be give about the right value when comparing with sites within 2-3 miles)

No snow, or fog or thunder, 1 air frost and 4 ground frosts(4 and 11)

Overall a return to above average values this month in temperature, especially daytime values, also a dry month.

Only 12.4mm, just 28% of the monthly mean.

Surprised you had over triple that in Coventry.

April 2010 weather stats for the small village of Harpford, in the Otter Valley, East Devon

A very sunny and dry month overall with virtually all the rain falling at the beginning and the end of the month with a 21 day spell with only 0.6mm of rain from the 8th to the 29th. A nearby station that has been recording sunshine amounts since 2006 say this was the sunniest month in their record so far, with 256 hours of sunshine and 62% of the maximum possible amount of sun.

Temperatures were about average overall with no unusually warm or cold weather, although quite large daily variations in temperature were common with a diurnal range of 15-17°C on some days and 6 slight air frosts. We were generally kept a bit cooler on days where parts of the country were approaching 20°C slightly higher due to the onshore southerly wind off the English Channel which is a few miles away.
