Currently clear and cold with a temperature of just 2.4C. The record low min here since 1983 is 0.3C, so if it remains clear then theres a good chance it could fall tonight.

Yesterday was also the lowest max since 1997 at just 8.8C.

Currently 3C after a low of -1C at the local frost hollow. A more likely 0.3C at Glasgow Bishopton, although that is a notorious non-frost hollow.

Nice and sunny again though :)

I must admit I had been thinking of you when looking at the model outputs for today- it always looked like being the peak day of the cold snap, and the synoptic setup and 850hPa temperatures are reminiscent of the setup for around 11-13 May 1995.

Not much chance of that happening here in Norwich- dewpoints (2-3C) are a little too high here, and so far there have only been light showers scattered about. Currently 9C with sunny intervals. Perhaps some of those big showers to the NW might make their way across during the afternoon.

Not much chance of wintry precipitation up in Cleadon either- showers look like they're forming inland and largely missing the extreme coastal fringe, as sometimes happens there.

Yes, its interesting that the timing is pretty similar to that year too. It was quite a marked temperature change during the shower, highlighting the effects of heavy convective showers during cold spring flows. We went from 10.4C to 4.9C in around 25 minutes.

Its sunny again now, but the temperature hasnt really recovered, standing at just 6.7C.

A pretty impressive day to be honest. The lowest min for at least 27 years and then wintry showers too.
