for the forecasters. is there now a big probability that no "thundery downpours" are going to happen tonight, only rain? or is there something else you can see happening

Have been sat on a hill for the past 30 mins looking North toward Birmingham area, thought it looked interesting! Sudden intensification on radar. Ive just got a nice view of a long line of congestus feeding into the back of it. Looks like its all past here now

A update from me again Lol.

Convection still everywhere and the sky is darkening a little to my East. I'm wondering if the rain in Wales is heading this way! Pat, Lynux, Tricky, twister can you all see it lol

Some of the ehaviest rain i've seen for a few years at work a couple of hours ago with hail and thunder, and now we have another storm sitting ontop of us with heavy rain and a few flashes and bangs.

Ta for the info, wasnt so heavy here and it looked like Bedworth got it better, so good to hear the reality.

More thunder here but as its now showing up on the various onine lightning detector sites I will stop going on about it.

could this be the start of round two here? I'm watching the showers in Cornwall as they make progress ENE. Wonder if they might intensify like the first lot did earlier this afternoon.

looks quite promising now (although hope i dont speak to soon)

the northern rain band is shifting southward (ie, the line has more rain starting afresh on the south tip) , so hopefully might hit me, at the same time as the southerly band! (wishful thinking)

Backbuilding downpours over BA12 at the moment, guess they'll do if there's to be nothing thundery.

There are strong Westerly gusts blowing in as the clouds are funneling in a NE direction. Over the last

half an hour each time it's looked to be clearing another burst crops up.

No problem. Seemed to be one or two lightning strikes somewhere to the South, according to the UK Lightning Detector overlay around 17:50pm.

Oh my  . I nipped out to the garage in between the downpours and there was....

....

.... thunder, very close, just to the SE as the heaviest cell passed a mile or so away.

That is the first thunder I have heard since 17 July last year, only 364 days!!

Stunning anvil and double rainbow as it's clearing but my viewing is not good for photos.
