Dropped to 6.7C here last night, 2.1c below what we got last August! Not sure we will get any lower tonight, fingers crossed though!

My 2.9C is the lowest August temperature I've recorded. Previous to last night, the lowest was 3.4C on August 31st, 2004.

I'd say it was very likely that, had you had your grass min' thermometer in the middle of the lawn, a slight ground frost would have been recorded,

Looks like a number of recent records may have been broken in Ireland last night. More exact mins down to a tenth of a degree should be available on the Met Eireann site tomorrow, also, Met Eireann only gives record high and low temps for the 61-90 period, can't find the loner term records anywhere.

Dublin Airport dipped to 3C after it's previous record low for August of 4.1C.

Casement recorded with 2C, it's record August low is 2.5C.

Gurteen has only been going for around 2 years so it's recording of 1C is most definitely a record. Even the station it took over from, Birr, which was just a few miles away had a record low of 1.2C so it may have beaten that too.

Got down to 4.3c last night, coldest August night on record here (since 2005), smashing the 6.8c record set by 2009 and 2008.

Chance of a few zeros tonight in the west. Last night the temperature stabilised from 02-0400 at around 4c before falling off towards dawn again. IF it manages to be a perfectly clear and calm night zero will be a close call here tonight- something I have not experienced in August.

Difficult to imagine a frost tonight sat out here in a warm feeling sun-trapped garden at 17c.

Still have had frosts in spring after similar highs.

A disappointing low of 8.2c last night, hopefully a cold night tonight. Forecast low of 4.c, which I doubt as last nigh forecast low was 6.c.

Good start as a possible August air frost beckons.

Perfectly clear and calm this evening, dropping steadily. From a max of 17.8c its now 9.4c and 5c on the grass.

At least a ground frost looks certain.

Looks like another un-event-full night is on the cards here, temperature is a rather mediocre 11.c.

But I guess it's to be expected living in the suburbs and seen as we never break -6.c even in Winter we will probably see another mild-ish night.

Met Eireann forecasts Ireland getting as low as 2C tonight, though it seems a little unlikely. Only 2 or 3 spots below 10C at the moment.

Cork just 10C now, so no chance of any frost here tonight.

Clear skies are allowing temps to drop markedly. More importantly winds have become very light compared to last night.

Good chance we will see a slight ground frost.

Peter Gibbs said the coldest place last night was Woodford at 1 degrees. Quite surprised at Woodford being the coldest spot, must be a notable frost hollow. I seem to recall it was one of the coldest spots in early Jan when it got down to -18 degrees in contrast to averages of -10 - 12 not far away.

Expected mins of 5 degrees in Manchester city centre tonight and tomorrow night for August is jolly cold.

Shap must stand a chance of an air forst, 4.9c there now, compared to 6.5c here (2.9c grass).

Pffft, no-where near as low as some places, still the temperatures is dropping nicely, currently 9.8c. Maybe we will get a cool night after-all.

Inverness and Shap down to 5C, who will win the race.
