New thread for discussion of convective weather. If we could please try and stick to the subject and minimise one liners about 'its raining' or it's 'not raining' this will save them being deleted.

Not a great deal of convective potential showing for the rest of the week. Some isolated to scattered showers today, but unlikely to be thundery. Tomorrow sees an area of low pressure move up from the SW, which may have some weak instability near triple point and low centre so can't rule-out an isolated embedded storm. After the low clears east Wednesday night/Thurs morning, the NW'erly flow for the rest of the week may turn slightly unstable in the N.

ESTOFEX have a little part of the East coast under a watch today - but everybody has a downer on them and all the others at the moment!

Got Cu around looks like mid level capping for now although li values at 0 could be borderline to break. Gonna go have a look around in a min and get a better idea

Heavy shower here recently with some nice growth to the clouds wow it's throwing it down , tiny streams down my road

Looks like there could have been a tornado over the village of Great Livermere, Suffolk yesterday:

Radar around 5pm, when it was said to have occured showed the village at the tail end of a squall line associated with an active trough moving through the area at the time:

Hopefully TORRO will do a damage survey very soon... because I can't see any conclusive evidence that it was damage caused by a tornado, may have been a violent thunderstorm downburst/gust.

Did anyone notice that Chris who was doing the weather forecast (Look East) and spoken in the news item about the Suffolk tornado was showing a radar picture clearly marked netweather.tv

I haven't had a chance to post until now about the weather in this region this morning.

There was a great Bristol Channel shower streamer between about 04.00 - 10.30 which ran through

a narrow strip from the Somerset coastline, through the Bath area and into Wiltshire before dying

out approximately 35 miles from the coast. In that time virtually every shower developed over the

estuary, reached rates of 15-25mm per hour and decayed over Wiltshire.

Things changed once the sun got going in mid-morning with more widespread showers also developing

and the streamer becoming less obvious.

I was out working in Corsham (SN13) and at one stage the streamer was straight over the town with

very heavy rain falling while clear sky could be seen to the S and N!

My goodness we were getting hit by the very same rain band at the same time the tornado came down from! :o I was at work and it tipped down soo close! Just goes to show it could happen in the ones that you least expect anything to happen. I will be thinking twice now when something like that comes over again and I'll be watching too. :lol:

we might find that by the morning things haved changed to add some thunderstorms in their to.

I'm about 7 miles west of Livermere… I know there was a point on Monday pm when the clouds were scudding by and it was so dark to the NW — convinced something was about to happen, but luckily it wasn't us.

The bottom tip of that squall line passed over us about 15 minutes before I know as I was watching the radar at the time.

yeah it looked so nice! not a bad day at work! shame there was no lightning etc and also that i didnt have my good camera with me lol. I live in doncaster and i still only seen very distant lightning and no proper thunderstorm at all!
