    Assuming you mean 1040mb, and you include north eastern Europe, you don't have to go back too far. I'm sure if you look hard enough there are much better examples, especially for central Europe and indeed the UK.

    Im pretty sure Mr Data created a thread on a intense area of HP in Central Europe once, when pressure built to a staggering 1068mb. If I find the thread, I will post the link.

    Highest Barometric Pressure ever recorded was 1085MB recorded at Mongolia December 19th 2001 (Another very high reading December 31st 1968 U.S.S.R)

    Pressure wasn't too low around these shores around that time either:

      It's been a wet March for much of the UK, with well above average rainfall, though the Northern & Western Isles have been drier than average.
