dry with an overcast of Ci Cs, temp on 0.9C and its been above zero C since midnight. A very slow thaw with water dripping on to concrete/asphalt surfaces and freezing instantly. I've just been trying to clear around my front door and garage door, about 0.5 inches thick. Hopefully the ground temperature will turn the ice to water and I can then brush most of it away!

oh to add

0.5cm fresh snow last evening, total lying this morning=23cm

4cm of fresh snow during yesterday evening although the average depth hardly increased at all due to gradual compaction of the existing cover. Managed the 7th consecutive 'ice day' yesterday with a max' of -0.2c during the early hours of this morning. Thick freezing fog developed once the snow had cleared and by 0900 there was 5-10mm of rime covering everything. The fog cleared by mid-morning and there were spells of hazy sunshine before cloud thickened to bring light rain from around 1300.

Currently overcast with light rain and a slow thaw; the temp' is 1.0c after an overnight min' of -5.0c.

Rainfall ( melted snow ) in 24 hrs to 0900, 3.7 mm

Mean depth of undrifted snow at 0900, 43.4 cm

Mean wind speed at 0900 was 15 mph SW but it's since decreased to around 9 mph.

-1C, the consolidated snow cover is freezing up (finally) after a good 24 hours of thaw. Still a good six-eight inches in the ground, trees and hedges are almost cleared  :luckyescape:
