A clear and cold ( by my standards ) night with the usual rapid temperature fluctuations associated with inversions.

There was an overnight max' of -2.0c at 0219, from -3.2c at 1800 yesterday evening, followed by the overnight min' of -4.4c two hours later.

The cold air from the valleys is now starting to mix with the air up here and the temp' has fallen from -2.0c at 0900 to -2.7c now.

Currently dry, sunny and almost cloudless with a temp' of -2.7c. I can see fog over Nottingham, Burton and Derby but none in the Derwent valley.

Mean wind speed is 6 mph W/NW.

Mean depth of undrifted snow, 36.9 cm.

A very hard hoare frost last night. Freezing fog this morning, quite dense in places, the sun is there but it's just not getting through properly. Very cold, the canal is frozen, the ducks are having a slippery time. I can see the ice particle in the air floating around like very fine snow, the scenery is beautiful. My little cheapy weather station is flashing snow, is this because of the ice in the air?

Cold and clear after a min temp of -6.5C, the lowest at this location in December since 1995.

The current temperature is -2.6C, if it remains below -1.3C it'll be the third coldest December max in 28 years.

Freezing Fog here has thinned enough to allow the sun to shine through nicely though still very much on the foggy side, very nice scenes out there with all the Rime on the trees etc.

High today of just -3.4c, currently -3.8c.
