My husband has just phoned and told me there is thunder and lightning in Glasgow.  Not showing on the radar at the moment though.

Sounds like Perth has a similar climate to South Shields then! :shock:

I did mention that Glasgow is not a thunder-free city (the Met Office maps suggest a mean of 8 or 9 thunderdays a year, which is lower than much of central and south-eastern England, but similar to Lancaster, and higher than anywhere in eastern Scotland or northeast England from Wearside northwards) I didn't expect that to be shown up so soon, but there it is.
