Rainfall breakdown in Buxton, Derbyshire for 2011.

October so far - 99.4mm

Total so far - 808.4mm

Under 20 miles away and you've had more than double the rainfall I've recorded so far in October.

42.2 mm here and the annual total has just passed the 600 mm mark, this is only 76% of the average amount at this stage of the year.

Coventry on 332mm so far (October to date 18mm). 63% of the 30 year average.

Doubt that it will edge the all time driest year though, only needs just over 100mm for that, with the wettest time of year to come.

October recorded 68.3 mm here, 61% of average.

This brings the annual total so far up to 626.2mm, 74% of average and the driest first 10 months since 1996 which recorded 619.4 mm.

Driest of all in the last 35 years was 1991 with a Jan'-Oct' total of 617.3mm but both 1991 and 1996 had wet Novembers so it will take a wet November this year for 2011 not to record the driest first 11 months since 1975.

Only 20mm fell during October in my location which brings the yearly total to 280mm. The average rainfall for my location is 600mm, so if Nov/Dec continue to be relatively dry im only going to see 50% of my average.

Autumn has finished, rainfall was more or less average. November 2011 had 175mm of rain compared to the average of ~195mm, so slightly below average (60mm in last 3-4 days saved us from quite a dry month). Autumn in all received 570mm compared to the average of 530mm, so more or less average. Yearly total so far is 1,375mm compared to average of ~1,800mm so looks to be a fairly dry year, similar to last year. Not as dry as many though.

There was only 12.6mm of rain here during November (22%), making it the driest Ive ever recorded. Autumn had just 66.8mm, making that the driest aswell.

The total for the year is a remarkable 311.6mm with one month to go. In a normal year up until this point the average is 513.4mm!

Meanwhile 10 miles to the west, if there is under 43mm in December, Coventry will have had it's driest year since records began in the middle of the Victorian era! Currently on 400mm there:

What an Autumn of repetitive rainfall amounts with 60.5mm, 60mm then 59mm in September, October then November respectively! And the 3 summer months look set to be the wettest 3 months of the year, unless December is very wet!

Jan = 65mm

Feb = 84mm

March = 43mm

April = 12.5mm

May = 51.5mm

June = 134.5mm

July = 97.5mm

August = 98mm

Yet another below average month, though not excessively so. Oddly, it ties January (to the tenth of a mm!) as the wettest month of the year, despite being below average. A testiment to the dry year 2011 has been (August is the only month to not be below average).

January: 69.9mm

October: 51.0mm

November: 69.9mm

2011 so far: 484.1mm

Just 40.4 mm last month and a total of 459.4 mm so far this year. The driest year was 1975 with 521.2 mm so anything below 61.8 mm of rain a new record will be made. Average for Dec is 91.5 mm
