Havent seen a single flake all day. The wind has been biting all day though. Would be better to see a bit of the sun aswell. No frost because of the cloud cover.

Haven't seen any snow myself but good to see a few people seeing some snow.

There was a few very small flakes on the windscreen this afternoon, but it wasn't really noticeable

Max 2.2c here so very cold, in a more typical Winter this could well have been one of the coldest days.

Driving about in mid/ south Wales today a few spits and spots of sleet/ perhaps snow at times, hardly noticeable though.

At Brynmawr it was still just below zero at 1330. Daughter reported a few flakes of snow in Lampeter this afternoon too.

The reason I am taking note of this is we have had no snow here this January and this is possibly the only day for falling snow albeit very light.

Unfortunately looking at the models tonight, and I cannot really see that much in the way of positives. (as indeed is confirmed by the quietness on this forum for the past week or so.)

In response to AdamJones comment above Wales version of CET being cold this month.

This well respected site suggest that Temps are very slightly below average so far in Wales this January, with Rain and Sun also above average.

http://www.climate-uk.com/page2.html

This has now been updated and the negative anomaly for Wales has grown to -0.3c. As this was to the 25th, with the cool/cold weather of recent days, it seems likely that this should remain negative, with the Zonal express starting around the turn of the month.

Lovely, cold day across the SW today, at least the bits I was in!

Widely -2c, -3c across S Carms and S Pembs, at dawn, and -5c in that frosty valley between Red Roses and Llanddowror on the A477.

Will January come in as below average for Wales, temperature wise?

Feels like it should- seems like we've had a fair few frosty nights and cool days- though perhaps here, in SW Wales, there's been less cloud around and so lower night time temps than across the rest of the region. The mild/ wet period, thankfully, only lasted a week or so.

Shame about the lack of snow though...

Looks like we may lose the settled weather by the middle of next week, to be replaced by something wetter and windier- just hope there's a bit more snow next month than this!

EDIT: Question answered ^^^! Thanks. (That's what happens when you have your tea halfway throug writing a post!)

Yes, January does feel as though its been on the cold side, and in spite of the lack of snow, there have been plenty of frosts.

Another fairly hard frost this evening, -3c currently.

Not sure that February will provide much joy for cold and snow lovers, at least through to mid month...

Unfortunately I agree fully, and although things can change, current patterns look pretty grim after that. :(

Yes as it stands although we have a good 2 months left of realistic snow possibility with each day the chances fade, however some great cold and frost to see January out :). Winter will come in below average imo due to the huge anomaly for December. So that is the 3rd Winter below average.

Oh yes but I mean true possibility as in lying snow and cold temperatures this is very rare april onwards, granted you can have snow but the sun is so strong it rarely sticks around longer than a day.

Another proper cold snap this.

-8c this morning. Only reaching 1.5c with frost and ice persisting in the shade.

This is the fourth very cold spell of the Winter that has seen temperatures below -7c. Quite a few Winters fail to fall that low once.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the 12z look good for welsh snow?

Uppers don`t mean much as today shows.

Yes it's been very cold here also definetly a good cold spell ground has been frozen solid for a good 4 days. Snow isn't everything.

Cold today but with very sunny conditions which gave the paradox, of feeling the warmth of the sun, but also the coldness of the air.

As for next week's conditions looking zonal as others have mentioned but period of cool/cold zonality mixed in, enough to give some wintriness, possibly more especially for hills in Northern Wales.

Another cold day with a high of 1.9C after a low of around -2C last night, due to the wind there was no frost though!

Its currently -1.5C and falling, don't expect to see snow for a while, maybe even not again this winter??

It would take an exceptionally mild February to prevent this Winter from ending up below average again, virtually impossible in fact.

Too early to say how much rain there will be though.

Temperature on the rise now from -7.4c 20 minutes ago.

Even ice on the beach at Llangennith today!

Looking like another like another very cold night; widely -5c,-6c on the way back from Swansea to Pontyates around 9pm.

Should hit -10c somewhere in Wales tonight, you'd think. Looks like Lampeter's currently leading the way, as it seems to have done many times this winter, with -7c ( http://www.wunderground.com/wundermap/).

Looks like there could be some brief wintry weather on the mountains towards the back end of next week, if the current charts verify.

Maybe there'll be a few wintry surprises if the flow can get more NWerly and draw in some of that colder air from the NW (that's more hopecasting than forecasting, though!).
