I'll go for a rather hopeful 7.8c

Theres a fair chance the first 7 days will come in above 10c and with no indication of any cold in the long term i'd say above average is odds on.

9.1c for me.

I will increase that to 9.6c.

The first half looks well above average although i still think that we will see a northerly push at some point during the last ten days.

1C above average is my prediction, so 9.5C

1981-2010 average is 8.5C.

It is also interesting that there have only being 13 occasions since 1900 in which both February and March have exceeded 6C. Over half of the following Aprils recorded 9C+ and 3 recorded 10C+, so statistically a mild April would be favoured.

Looks like a very mild first half which will make it very difficult I imagine to see anything but an above average CET. I will go for 9.5 degrees, suspect there will be a significant cool down later in the month from around the 20th thanks to northern blocking - northerly/north easterly airstream very likely with some cold nights.

Given what could be exceptional warmth for the first half, providing its not so cool a second half, 2007 will be challenged.

11.0c please.

Indeed it will, but at what level: 10c, 11c ....even 12c plus, it would take a heck of a cool down thereafter to get anywhere near to the average of 8c, almost impossible in fact.

The start of the month is likely to be mild or warm, signals are conflicting for the second half but I'm tending towards synoptics remaining favourable for warmth. Therefore I'm going to stick my neck out with a punt at 10.3°C.

The 06z GFS would have the CET at about 11.7C to the 7th.

I think I'll change my guess to 10.0C thanks.
