Wow, what was the peak value during April 2007?

I'd imagine 2007 peaked at months end at 11.2C. Was at just 8.3C to the 7th.

GFS staying consistent and the 12z would have the CET at about 11.6C to the 7th, and probably 12C by the 8th. Plenty of time for things to change though, as they so often do!

Tricky one, a potential record breaker very much confused by a strong warming in the stratosphere and I suspect the high will retreat westwards from mid to late month dipping values somewhat.

However, close to 2007, 11.2C please

I think it's gonna be a warm one. Possibly the month to compensate for the near record breakingly cold December. I'll go for 11.1C with an early hayfever season but lots of early barbecues too! :o

Wow, for those still to guess arguably the most respected forecaster on Netweather has called for a record breaker (or very near), just thought that was worth a post.

What is the driest mid March to mid April period?

Unless I'm right and everyone else is wrong, I've already screwed this one up big time - and I only guessed yesterday.

I haven't seen this much confidence in an exceptionally warm month since July 2006.

Lot of people could have egg on their face. I wonder how many have been influenced by GFS predictions for the start of April? Well for a start today hasn't gone quite according to plan and GFS may back down a bit on how warm the start of this April turns out.

We have to remember wide diurnal ranges are still possible in April so, we could end up up with a month with warm maxima but not so warm minima like March just turned out. It was the minima that kept that month from being that warm.

CET is 12.8C to the 1st

http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/hadobs/hadcet/cet_info_mean.html

Minimum for today is 11.2C and maxima will probably be around 15.5C so an increase overall to 13.1C or 13.2C tomorrow looks likely.

The 06z GFS will have the CET at

10.9C to the 4th

11.7C to the 6th

11.4C to the 8th

11.3C to the 9th

I am convinced that we will see a warmer first half of April than the second half and the CET will reflect this. As April is a warming month I am wondering how often this has occurred? Does anyone (Mr Data surely?please) have any figures to show big turnarounds in April?

This has been mentioned earlier in the thread- they are actually few and far between and major turnarounds are even less common, certainly in recent times.
