Biggest snowflakes i can ever remember seeing at the moment. It's a full on blizzard out there!

I'm up Braniel - massive snowflakes earlier - wee bit of a wind now - not sure about the snow conditions

THE first snow of the winter fell yesterday but don't expect to go tobogganing any time soon. Met Eireann last night that a repeat of last year's big freeze sub-zero temperatures was not on the cards over the coming week, and that some areas might only be affected with a "light dusting" of snow. But it will be bitterly cold, with blustery winds and rain expected in all parts, forecaster Pat Clarke said. November has been mild, but December will be changeable and unsettled and cold," Mr Clarke said.

"Apart from torrential rain, which brought its own problems, the transition from autumn into winter has been relatively benign. We've had very few frosts and no snow but it's going to be cold for the next couple of days. "There'll be showers (today) turning to sleet and snow in the north and north-west, but all areas are at risk. It will be blustery and cold, with strong winds slowly easing."

Temperatures will range between 3C and 7C today, but could fall as low as minus 2C in some places overnight. There will be temporary rises in temperature over the course of the week, but that will bring heavy rain. Tomorrow will see a cold and frosty start with scattered showers during the day, with rain spreading from the south-west to the rest of the country. Highest temperatures will range from 4C to 8C and it will be mildest in the south-west. Wednesday will be blustery with sunny spells and showers, with frost expected in many areas overnight.

Showers will return on Thursday, falling as sleet or snow, particularly over higher ground in the midlands, north and east of the country.

Same old same in Cork. Sunshine and rain showers, temperature only getting down to 4.7C this morning. Saying that, there was lumps of snow and ice on the roads this morning, most likely from cars driving through the city from elsewhere.

About 5-10cm of snow around Fintown this morning, was on a bus so couldn't get any real pics but you can get an idea with these anyway! Only a light dusting here in Letterkenny

just had another heavy shower through there briefly turning things white again. Gonna be very slippy on the roads tomorrow!!

Funny the number of people in late to work and there really was very little in the way of snow.

drove through clogher valley today and any high ground from about 170mts up was very white. sliabh beagh range to the south looked resplendant with its winter coat, and to the north the hills above ballygawley and fintona were very white. very cold today and very little thaw higher up i suspect.

just had a really heavy snow shower for about 30 mins. again wet snow with huge flakes. left a thick covering of slush. current temp 0.5c. if only it were half a degree colder this would have been special!

That shower has now passed us! lasted about a half hour or so. Fell as snow and was starting to get a grip on the roads. Cars are white and the grass got a bit of a top up. Lets hope for a showeror two overnight.
