Some Weather Lingo Used By Hastings Fishermen

Here is some lingo that was used by Hastings fisherman to describe some weather conditions of many moons ago.

Planety: dead calm, hot and moist

Swallocky: Sultry, heavy sky and oily sea

Eddenbite: A long loop of cirrus with trailing ends

Windogs: Blown out streamers of white clouds

Messengers: Large ragged patches of nimbus clouds scurrying before a wind.

Pot-boys: small cumulus clouds in an otherwise clear skies.

Smither-diddles: mock sun

Eggernogger: soft hail

Shucky: changeable weather

Truggy: really dirty weather.
