Please post your UK convective storm photos in here.

Can you please make sure they are your photos and of any active current action, not historical (well yesterday would be OK!) or pictures of clouds that might signify something or not.

Can we also not turn this into another discussion section, if you like a photo or set of photos, please use the reputation button in the corner of the applicable post.

Cheers and good storm hunting! :good:

Some just taken in crawley, to the North, East and West. Seems to be heading back towards crawley here, growing?

Just a few from my little home grown storm..

post-7593-0-99799000-1303650276_thumb.jp Had already just produced a rumble of thunder at this stage! Apologies for weather station and (to be improved) guy rope things in front of it!

post-7593-0-24618900-1303650455_thumb.jp Began to produce a few louder rumbles shortly after this, quite frequent at one point when I stopped a few miles closer as I decided to chase it.

post-7593-0-06337900-1303650520_thumb.jp After chasing the last one turned out to be a bit of a fail as it died, I caught this towering cumulus growing into the dying anvil of the old storm.

For anyone looking for an image resizing tool, I can recommend this...

http://www.picresize.com/

The best highest resolution for the forum is 1024 X 768 pixels. As you may have noticed, it takes the forum software a little time to resize the images while loading. Another option is to load them into your very own gallery page and copy the page code from the gallery and use the "insert image" button in the post editor and paste the code in the link box that appears.

By using the gallery your photos are safe. If they are uploaded directly into the forum there is a chance that they may disappear when we have a clean-up of the forum. :)

I don't get on with it either sometimes!

If you click 'Add reply' at the bottom and below the box thingy where you type the post under a heading 'attachments' you should be able to click 'browse' and look for pictures on your pc to select, then when you've selected it (I have to click open or double click to select it) click 'attach this file' to upload the pic. Then I think you can click 'add to post' to add it to a particular place in your post.

Not sure if that helps but hope it does :)

Cheers Prof :drinks:

Helped a lot

Taken from Harborne overlooking the city of Birmingham, apparently in Leicester :cc_confused:

Question: how can i obtain a radar image of the Leicester area between 4-6 oclock of this cell from Sat 23/4/11?

post-12214-0-76882500-1303780260_thumb.j

And now i know how to get the thumbnail version instead of uploading to my Gallery :good:

Here are some photos that I took of the thunderstorm about 6 miles west of Westbury from last saturday (23rd). I heard about 20-30 rumbles, but didn't see any lightning.

The first shows the developing cloud, I watched it start from a cumulus and develop into a mature Cb. It hardly moved at all during that time. The others show it when it is mature and to the right a second cell forming from the outflow (you can see this in the third photo). It was quite amazing to watch and as you can see, very discrete.

Here's my video of the storm that passed over Bridgnorth in Shropshire at about 20:00 this evening

It's certainly the best storm I've seen in the UK in the last 10 years

we`ll what an extended weekend

Its really good to see so many were able to witness and record it

on a personal note i tried a couple of experiments in my never ending quest for a decent lightening snap

This involved a couple of HD filters and a massive memory storage card this combined with taking continual snaps

This was my cunning plan to produce a lightning time lapse

Apart from a long distance effort captured from Mondays light spectacular, visible from our living room as it trungled up the M5/M6

These were the same storms excellently captured by Aj only viewed from distance

post-12214-0-43308400-1305115743_thumb.j

Although these experiments didn't work for lightning ( this time :cc_confused: ) the method managed to produce a couple of good smooth time lapse

The first one, not using the method, catches a little bit of rotation at the start of the time lapse and ends it with massive rotation when a Chinook flew through the scene

Best viewed HD

Next two are my experiments
